Photo ALBUM?

Post by Crossmr »

So,
as I've spent the last day or so pounding my head against the wall looking at various DVD photo album programs, can anyone tell me if this actually makes Albums?
It seems like the industry has confused the term album with slideshow and that is not what I want. I might like to have the option, but I would prefer to make my albums like an album. One you'd see on the web, facebook, or even on your PC. if I drop 200 photos on a CD for someone, even sorted for various themes/events, I'd rather they not only be limited to viewing them solely as a slideshow. I'd like there to be a thumbnail index available so they could actually pick and choose various pictures to look at individually, on a DVD player and not on a computer. I might like to give them the option to view it all as a slideshow if they want, but if someone wants to specifically look at one photo for whatever reason, I'd rather not have them have to wade through the slideshow over and over to get to it.

Movie Factory is called that because it produces primarily video DVDs. As such, it is not suited to producing the sort of thing you are after.

are you aware of any software that does? Does Corel make anything that would offer the creator a choice between displaying a thumbnail album and a slideshow?

I'm not sure dvd players have the facility to do that, computers yes, so your search may be long and fruitless to find a programme that can do it.
Maybe look at dvdlabs pro which has the ability to manually alter the dvd making code and can make interactive games.

They can show pictures. They can have thumbnails be menu items. I just want them to do it in a non-slideshow format. I'm sure I've seen commercial DVDs contain photos as bonuses. I'll have to keep digging.
Does the slideshow at least contain controls on this? Can you pause on a picture? skip through, etc?

A slideshow is basically a dvd-video of photo's, so you can pause it just like a video, fast forward at various speeds and skip to chapter points you insert.
You can add the pictures on their own in a folder, but again you'd need a dvd player that recognised jpegs as are, or use them on a computer.
