Can't Scan Using HP Officejet

Post by princess111 »

I have PaintShop Pro X3 and a HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One - which includes a flat bed scanner and a automatic document feeder. If I use the flat bed scanner and choose: File/Import/TWAIN Acquire I get a window telling me: images were removed from the scanner. It tells me this when there are images on the scanner and does not open the software application that comes with my HP. I have talked to Corel support live chat and they told me to call technical support. Technical support told me that there was an issue with the windows XP drivers for the HP.

My next port of call in that sort of situation would be to the HP Website to see if there were any updated drivers or patches for the Officejet.

I went to the HP Web site to see if there were any updated drivers or patches for the Officejet and installed them and they did not solve the problem. At this point, I don't know if this is a driver issue or a software issue. Thanks for your help BrianCee.

Can you do any scanning outside of PSP? If not then PSP isn't going to be able to make it work. When I had issues with an HP scanner I had to use their live chat support and they worked through the problem with me.

Also, make sure that you go to File > Import > Twain Source and pick the twain driver that works with your HP scanner. Make sure the scanner is plugged into the computer and on, not in sleep mode.

I've had issues with my scanner if I have another USB device plugged in like my external hard drive or external DVD burner. The scanner would preview and scan but the program wouldn't save the scan. I'd try unplugging anything you didn't really need to scan and try it again just in case.

Thanks df.

I can scan outside of PSP. In all my other applications, the HP scanner works fine. it's just when I try to use the flatbed scanner in PSP is when there's a problem. It will only work in PSP using the automatic document feeder, where it pulls up the HP software.

Also, I made sure that I chose the correct twain driver when I went to File > Import > Twain Source and picked the twain driver that worked with my HP scanner. That was one of the first things I did. The scanner is always plugged into the computer and on. I don't think there is a sleep mode on this model. There was no info in the instructions.

Thank you and I appreciate your insight df.

That is a point worth checking - I have a HP Photosmart C6280 - I didn't see anything in the manual about a sleep mode but it definitely does go to sleep, I use Photo Impact another Ulead/Corel programme, if I leave the printer plugged in and switched on without printing for an hour or so it goes to sleep - I have found the only way to wake mine up is to unplug the printer - shutdown Photo Impact, then plug in and switch on the printer and open Photo Impact again, I am fairly sure I also remember more than one occaison when I had to shut down and restart my computer as well in order to regain contact between printer and computer.

Hello princess111,

Can you verify if you installed all the necessary driver and updates for your HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One. Here are the updates and software that you need to check.
HP Multi-Function Products Driver Bundle - Corporate Only
HP Officejet and PSC Basic Driver
HP Officejet and PSC Full Feature Software and Drivers
HP Image Zone/Photo and Imaging Unexpected Internal Error and Communications Failure Patch
All 11 Updates
and both the HP Scan Diagnostic Utility and HP Print Diagnostic Utility
I would suggested that you download and install them manually from http://bit.ly/fQwt0X

Then also tell me if you can scan when you just use the SCAN icon only.

Thanks Abiel Corel NA

I went to the HP web site and downloaded the files. When I chose the scan icon in PSP, my HP software could not find the files on the hard drive. Every time I scan, I have to insert my HP disk for the computer to configure the files and then it wants to restart my system. I have been having problems with this driver ever since I updated windows. I have to work on this issue more.

Thanks

I have an Officejet J4680 and I have noticed HP's drivers are sketchy at best. I used to have my printer wirelessly networked but it ended up not working one day and has remained the same since, even on a fresh windows install.
