I shot some clips on my sony cyber shot camera (its about 2 years old so the content is not in HD). the clips are in .mpg format
i'm using the trial version for corel videopro x3 -. when i try to trim the clip, the output is not as good as the original clip. Why would this be ?
i selected the "same as project settings" option when creating the file. is there some other option i should choose ?
or is this because i'm using a trial version ?
i'm new to corel; earlier i used to edit my clips in windows movie maker and it irrespective of whatever editing i would do, the clip quality would be exactly the same as that of the source clip.
Pls help.
Thanks

Re: New user; why does the frame rate and video quality decr
Welcome to the forums!
The problem probably arises because of the format of your source files and the format of the project settings. I suspect your camera may produce mpeg-1 video, though notionally it could also be standard definition mpeg-4. However, I am only guessing, and it would be helpful if you could give us the exact model number of your cybershot, and if you would also do the following: please right click one of the captured files INSIDE Video Studio i.e. either with the clip in the timeline or in the Library window, and copy ALL its Properties here. That way we will at least know what we are dealing with. Please also tell us exactly how you have captured the video.
Just for the sake of completeness, the Project Properties, unless you have changed them, are by default set for DVD-compatible mpeg-2. By choosing 'Same as project properties' you are automatically asking Video Studio to convert your video to that format -- though admittedly such a conversion would have to take place some time if you are planning on burning your video to DVD. You might be better off, in the meantime, using 'Same as first video clip' if in fact the first video in your project is one of your Cybershot clips.
But get back to us with the information requested above, and we may be able to suggest something more specific...
