adding title to beginning

Post by haef23 »

I'm trying to add a title to the beginning of my video but when I drag my video clip down to the timeline I can't get it to start after the beginning title. How do I add deadspace to the video timeline so my title text shows at the beginning? I can't figure this out. It seems so simple. I just want text at the beginning and then after 10 seconds I want my home video to start. Thanks!

Hello , welcome to the forums

As you suggest - it really is very simple - just open the 'Color' library - drag any colour block of your choice down into the timeline in front of your video - the video will automatically move along to make the required space, do not try to make a space for it - then just set the duration of the colour block to be the length you want the title to display - and there you are - I usually add a transition such as a crossfade between the block and the video so that the change is gradual rather than abrupt..

In addition to any colour block you can also put an image or graphic (company logo etc.) at the start and your title will show over it - you may need to change the colour of the text to give clarity if you choose an image or graphic for the back drop.

Do the same through out your video if you want to insert more titles - just cut the video with the scissors and insert your color/image/graphic.
