I just purchased Video Studio Pro X3 and I love it
In my opinion it is possible to capture video from the video camera.
I have a JVC HD camera
This the camera I purchased

I would like to hook my camera up to my computer

How do I do this. Now of course my camera records off an SD card and I can just stick it in there and edit. The reason I am hoping I can capture video just like I can with a webcam is because the view screen on my camera no longer functions so therefore I can only point in my general direction and center up the shot in post edit.

Welcome to the forums,
You're wanting to use the camcorder as a webcam? If so, the USB might be able to maintain a video stream for this. If not you will need to purchase a video capture card. You then connect the camcorder using the A/V cable.

Have you been able to attempt capturing yet? Check your camcorder's documentation and the camcorder menu to see if there might be a special setting for using it as a webcam. Some camcorders do have this feature. It might be possible this way.
