Hi all,
Does the trial/evaluation version of VideoStudio Pro X3 - DVD factory Pro 2010 support creating Blu ray disks. Or is this only possible with the full/bought version?
I downloaded the trial version of VideoStudio Pro X3 which includes DVD factory Pro 2010 version 1.6.0.367 (dutch language version). With DVD factory starting a new videodisk I cannot select blu ray disk in the project settings. I can only select as disk: DVD and as project setting: Dvd-video or AVCHD.
I searched help files, internet and this user board but could not find any resolution. I do like the editing software so very happy so far but before I buy the software, I want to make sure I can create blu ray disks (do a test).
Note: I do have two drives, first drive is Blu-ray burner (LG HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH08LS20) and second drive is normal DVD burner
(TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C)
Thanks,
Franc

Re: Cannot select Blu ray videodisk
Can we assume you had video files in the timeline in X3 and then selected Share > Create Disc, which opened DVD Factory 2010? If so, then on the first page of the latter, when you go to "Select Disc", does "Blu-Ray" even appear as a choice, or is it greyed-out?
Sadly, I don't know if the trial version is crippled in this way, though it would not surprise me since Corel has taken some silly decisions such as this. Their silliest decision, though, was to include DVD Factory 2010 at all. It is a truly awful program, and Corel itself recognised their mistake by subsequently making Movie Factory 7 SE available to registered users of X3 as a substitute burning program. I think you can download a trial version of the full MF 7 Pro from the Corel.com website. It has more features than MF 7 SE but the latter can certainly burn Blu-Ray discs.

Re: Cannot select Blu ray videodisk
Thank you for your quick reply.
It does not appear as a choice (so not even greyed out) thus something wrong? It is indeed DVD Factory 2010 and on the first page (but I started both from X3 as directly from a general startup menu).
Funny, MF 7 SE (nor Pro) is not available on the dutch site (Corel.com/nl) where I downloaded X3. I will try via Corel.com. I hope it is also available for dutch users. Note that the site states that only the Pro version burns HD video projects to Blu-ray. I have HD videos (and projects/edited video from X3 then) which I want to burn to blu ray. So do I need Pro then?

Re: Cannot select Blu ray videodisk
Believe me, the SE version will definitely burn HD files to Blu-Ray. Note, however, that I said 'file', not projects. Neither the Pro nor SE versions can recognise Video Studio Project (.vsp) files produced in VS X3. So if using the latter for editing, you have to convert your edited project to a final video format -- e.g. Blu-Ray -- then open MF 7 and insert that file for burning.

Re: Cannot select Blu ray videodisk
Ok, clear. That will work.
In the meanwhile I also got an answer from support of Corel stating that in the trial versions Blu Ray functions are disabled. According to the support group, they do not have permission to enable them from the Blu Ray manufacturing company?
Thank you all for you replies, and I can continue again.
