The features and specs for Video Studio 9 indicate that Video Pan & Zoom can be used on video clips or still images. The manual only covers Panning and Zooming on still images -- not video clips.
I have a couple of video clips that were shot too wide and I want to zoom in on the clip a bit to get rid of unwanted stuff on the sides.
How do you zoom in on a motion video clip?
Pan and Zoom on Video

Just to add my 0.02$:
cent nr1.: be aware that the extreme borders of the picture will not be seen if watched on TV (refer to the margin as in Titles adding for instance)
cent nr2.: be careful that video definition is about the max that can be seen on TV and enlarging will enhance pixellation. Pan/zoom was primarily foreseen for stills that are typically way larger than 720.
But since you initially said "zoom in A BIT"...
