VS10 Slideshow - Audio DVD

Post by Manzano808 »

Aloha! Great to see the forum is still alive and kicking even if i'm not these days ;)

I apologise right away for posting this when somewhere/someplace there most likely is pertinent info on this. But i've looked and everything i've found so far is for newer versions. So i thought i'd ask about older version 10 Plus.

Slideshow Creation:
I'd like to make a slideshow DVD for Xmas to give out. I've made a lot of movies with VS but never a slide show and in fact i've never created a slideshow in any program.

Is this possible in VS10 or would it be better to use DVDLab Pro for this? If VS10 is sufficient to do this (just a fairly basic slideshow NOT HD) can anyone point me to any kind of tutorial or readme/walk through to do it? I really can't grasp it from the Manual since it really isn't covered in detail there (or did i miss it?) I'm looking to see what types of photos/graphics files and what resolution as well as a HOW TO. I'm clueless about slideshow creation. :?

Audio DVD Creation:
I do seem to recall that i did this once in VS10 - or was this a dream? Is there any tutorial on this as well?

Thanks for any help!

Hi

Slide shows are relatively easy to create using Video Studio.

Decide if you want 4:3 or widescreen 16:9

Although not essential, You may wish to edit your images using a third party editor.
Your image size in pixels should be same as or greater than the video frame size.
Horizontal measurement of 720 px for 4:3 and 1024 px for widescreen, (just a rough guide)
If you wish to fill the screen then the image sizes must be 4:3 or 16:9 shape/aspect, otherwise they will show a black border, not really a problem.

Set up Video Studio:-

Go to Preferences
Always use Keep Aspect Ratio
Set the image duration to 10
Set the transition effect to 3
Tick Auto add transition effect
Default Transition effect as random

Add a colour clip to the timeline, used as a lead in

Add images to timeline

Add colour clip to end
Add Titles
Add audio

Render to Video file Share create video file DVD
Burn this file to disc.

Job Done

Video Studio Movie Wizard will also create the show for you
Tools-Movie Wizard—Insert/Add images

You are then taken back to the timeline to complete the renders

Trevor has given you all the detail you need - but just to add , making a slideshow is basically no different to making a video show - put your photos in the timeline - add titles/transitions/music etc. - create video file - burn DVD, follow Trevors instructions re sizing etc. and you'll have your slideshow in no time.

RE Audio DVD - if you just want to create an audio disc from a video - put your video in the timeline and go to 'Share >> Create Audio file' - follow the prompts to name and save the audio file - now use 'Windows' or any CD/DVD software you have to burn a disc.

Wow! I thank you very much for this everyone! It should get me started since we really only want basic slideshow with audio soundtrack, some text every now and then for certain pictures, and maybe some simple transition effects? Not sure about the latter but will be finding this out soon enough thanks to you. I was also wondering about the graphics (picture) file formats as we mostly have jpg and a few png and bmp.

As an aside, I also have Womble MpegWizard DVD - but as long as i know i can do this in VS that is fantastic!

DOUBLE WOW! I just noticed that both of you also use XP Pro!!!!!!!!!! You've made my day since i thought i was one of the few who didn't like vista and in fact the problems with vista made me gun shy over win7. I was hoping that Win7 was a complete rewrite but then i should've known better. It is supposed to be much better than [ugh] vista but is just a new build from that code?

It's refreshing to see other XP users here on this Forum... :D is there any kind of poll for this?!
