Force print over multiple pages

Post by evanmjones »

Hi,

I'm working with a scanned archive of a document. I want to print it. It doesn't have to be perfect, just printed so I can work on it more easily. The single graphic is about 6 times higher than it is broad and should print nicely on to 6 sheets of A4. However, I can only get it to print as a single tiny graphic as I can't work out how to stop the programme forcing it on to one page.

Do I have to cut it up into 6 images in order to print it? Or is there some way to tell the programme to print it over however many pages it takes?

Any advice appreciated.

Many thanks,

Evan

Tell your printer. In most cases if the printer is set-up to allow multiple page printing the image will properly stretch over them.

Each printer is different so look through the settings and help files. But this is, at least as far as Paint Shop Pro is concerned, a printer thing.

If the printer setup doesn't work there's always Picasa from Google. It actually works pretty well for slicing an image up to print one over multiple pages. You'd think that PSP's image slicer would do that but it's something completely different.

Maybe somebody's written a script.

Hello Evan,

If you still cannot get it to work even if you have adjusted the printer settings, then you can use the image slicer on PSP X3 in order to cut the large image into 6 images in order to print it. For the steps in slicing images, you can follow the steps from these link: http://bit.ly/ezT95O

That is true, I don't normally consider the image slicer for this sort of thing since it's not designed for this purpose but it would work.

It's not difficult to use the image slicer, you just have to have a predetermined number of pages you want to print the image on and then use the grid tool, lets you create a grid of evenly spaced cells, either over the entire image or within another cell, to create a grid covering the number of rows and columns of pages you want and set the optimization settings for the cells. You then have the individual images saved out which you then need to open in Paint Shop Pro and print them all off one at a time. Making sure to size them all properly, if the print size vs # of pixels is too small you'll want to upscale to fit on the larger paper and as you don't want one to be bigger than the other it's best to use the resize command with re-sampling turned off. You set up the actual print size and let Paint Shop Pro take it from there. And in no time you have the pieces of paper that you may need to cut or hide any necessary borders to make everything fit together. Simple.

Yeah....I would rather use Picasa than the Image Slicer myself. It's just too much of a hassle for doing multiple-page printing. But you have three good options now. So hopefully this all helped. :D
