I have a few Matroska (mkv) files that I'd like to make some gifs from, but mkv isn't supported by Ulead GIF Animator 5.
I don't have any programs at the moment to convert them to another format, so is there a plugin that would allow Ulead GIF Animator 5 to open Matroska?
Plugin for Matroska files for Ulead GIF Animator 5?

Matroska is relatively new to these parts, and GA was written before the Filters final first stable MKV Version. These URl’s might help.

Although Microsoft’s Media Player will play MKV’s I don’t have any software that will convert MKV either. By a friend, I know there is MKV to AVI conversion software, but at the present he says there is no Plug-in for GA. Here is a good MKV to AVI converter:

A Temporary Idea; play the MKV on Media Player, stop the frame you want to Capture, and use PI to capture the frame content, save it as a GIF and then open it in GA.

OH YES! Unless one of the "Giants" gets overly jealous and decides to buy them out, they are becoming a recognized force in the Graphic World.
Their products may have bugs, but they are cheap, and they keep inventing and adding to their products constantly making them look fresh and new. We may not be getting all of the updated features we would like, but they will grow. Besides, one Graphic program can’t do everything, which is a programmer’s nightmare.
I have Photoshop, all Corel graphics programs, and many others, but still keep coming back to Ulead to do most of the grunt work. I just use the big packages to polish off things as they are used and required by the Biggies.
The only Major Drawback with Ulead is their File extensions, and the limited compatibility with other programs. I see that as changing in the future as they begin taking market shares, they will have to start acting like their competitors.
