Hi,
I would like to convert my recorded mp4 videofiles with Corel Videostudio X3 to for example a DVD. The mp4 file is from a Sony DSC-H5 photocamera. It is HD quality not 1920 but i believe 1440 or something like that.
What are the best settings to convert the mp4 to DVD without losing quality?

While you can not have the same High-Def quality on a Standard-Def DVD (which DVDs are only Standard-Def), you still can produce what's called a Hybrid AVCHD Disc. Ken Berry has posted numerous times about this. Clicking on the link should show you over 200 posts concerning them.

The output cannot be a AVCHD disc because many people cannot read a Blue Ray. I also don't understand what a Hybrid DVD or AVCHD is?
I have bought the photocamera recently and don't know yet what codec it uses.
So it is possible to import the MP4 file and share it as a mpeg2 dvd file without stuttering and artefacts etc. Maybe a little more quality but stil DVD quality, what are then the best settings?
Because i have not good experiance with converting, end results are many times shaking and stuttering.
The DVD must be vieuwed by many people. It is a Kerstshow...

Hi
Standard DVD uses Mpeg2 files.
If you Share-Create Video File – DVD the resultant file will be a compliant Mpeg 2, suitable to burn a disc.
Your only concern is the field order. The option above will use lower field.
However you should use the same as your original video.
With a clip in the timeline, right click and select properties. What are they?
They should indicate a field order, upper or lower. If its lower then you are ok.
If it shows Upper, which it probably will, you should Share –Create Video File – Custom—Choose Mpeg files-Options to edit the template
(I would advise that you use Make Movie Templates Manager to create your own template)
Whether rendering MP4 directly to Mpeg2 is gonna cause quality issues is a matter of giving it a go.
There will however be some reduction in quality just by converting from HD to Standard definition, whether this is noticeable or acceptable is to be seen.

Ok thx. I am gonna try some stuff.
Another question at last, The Christmas show i am gonna record is in the dark with candles etc. Is it possible to lighten the recorded video so there is more to see then only lights?

Hi
Video Camcorders are usually good at low light recordings some better than others. There are limits, you cannot take a photo without light.
I would do a quick test to see I the camera is capable of recording in low light.
You may be pleasantly surprised.
Some cameras have a night mode, but I have not found this at all successful.
A tripod is essential, if possible do not pan/zoom as the camera may have difficulty keeping focus in low light.
Video Studio does have filters that can alter the brightness/contrast/exposure, which may help. I would use as a last resort.
