Choosing An Animated Menu Loop...

Post by MarkAlldridge »

Hello all. I wonder if you can help me. I am using DVD Factory 2010 to burn a wedding DVD I have edited together. However, regarding the onscreen menu that has the 'Play Movie' link on it....How can I select what clip will play on the menu background?

At the moment, it is just using the first 10 seconds or so from the beginning of my film (which is just a countdown marker!)...there must be a way for me to choose another clip?

I've attached a screenshot, showing you what I mean. I did email Corel about this but they couldn't help me. I'm probably being stupid, I'm sure it can be done!

Thanks very much for any help, it's much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums Mark,

You can't adjust the portion of the background video clip being used in DVD Factory 2010. However if you use the free replacement program, DVD MovieFactory 7SE, you can. In DVD MF 7SE, after selecting a menu template, go to the Edit tab, and you will find an option to select a video or image to use as the background. On the far right of that option, is a small square icon, click it, and a small preview window dialog opens. Just move the playhead to the point you want your background video to start playing. Click ok. It's that easy in a more real DVD authoring program.

Simply put, DVD Factory 2010 stinks on ice. ;)

Blimey, thanks very much Ron. I'm amazed that MovieFactory 2010 cannot do it!

So basically, are you saying I should just use DVD MovieFactory 7SE to do the whole burning/menu process instead? Is it a much better program then?

It's a bit confusing to the first-timer, all these differently named programs - from the same company! I think DVD Factory 2010 came with my purchase of Corel VideoStudio Pro X3. So this '7SE' program you mention, it's a free one is it? In fact, thinking about it, I think I may have seen it on my 'start' menu on my pc at home. I will check later.

Thanks very much for your help already.

Well, because of the complaints about DVD Factory Pro 2010, and this included the beta-testers, Corel provided DVD MovieFactory 7SE as a replacement. There is a full verison DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro of this program. Yes it is a much better DVD authoring program.

Corel removed the burning module with VS X3. The previous versions of VS had an integrated burning module. It was patterned off of DVD MovieFactory. The confusion comes with their naming, which may have been intentional.

If you haven't downloaded and installed DVD MovieFactory 7SE I recommend doing so. Go to the Corel Guide in VS X3, in the Get More or Do More section, you should see the option for it. Also Service Pack#3 puts the option in the VS Share Create Disc menu.

Hello MarkAlldridge,

Ron is correct, DVD Move Factory 7 SE has more feature than the DVD Factory Pro 2010. By the way, you can also download the DVD Movie Factory 7 Se by downloading the service pack or updates of VideoStudio.
