Okay so,
I was recently at an event and I used two camcorders to videotape the 2 hour event. One was stationary and wide angle of the stage the whole time. The other was moving around doing closeups, etc. For the most part both cameras were filming the entire time (except for intermission etc).
What I want to do is to create a final video of the entire show and find the EASIEST way in Video Studio 11 to flip between the two different footages when appropriate.
Is there an easy way to align both clips on the timeline on top of each other, making sure the clips are synced, and then when that is done, do something on each timeline that would let me turn one clip on for 2 minutes while the other clip is "invisible" (not applied), and then when appropriate, reverse the clips so the other is active and the first one is inactive? And by doing this essentially edit the final footage using a combination of both clips?
Looking for some advice - never done this sort of editing before.

Yes...
There are multiple video tracks...the main one and the overlay tracks. They can be used for this very purpose.
Sync both then work awayby chopping/removing segments off the overlay track (This track doesn't automatically move clips to the left when cutting, which will keep both tracks in sync). Since the overlay track will cover what's on the main video track you won't need to chop any from the main track.
You'll have to mute the clip with the redundant audio track too. Pick which is the better audio and mute the other one.
In your case I would do the first half of the show you recorded...then in another project do the part after the interval. Later you can export/create two sepaprate video files and bring them together in the third project where you can then add titles, credits etc

Preparation is good for syncing, so I always use a camera flash as an aid, it is very short and easy to use.

Okay, I've place the main track and the overlay track on the timeline and they are sync'ed; but I'm having problems understanding exactly how I "chop/remove segments" from the overlay track - I can't seem to find a way to do this. Help?Clevo wrote:Yes...

I searched that forum for "multicam editing" and only got one result which was an off-site tutorial and not specific to any particular software.
