I have taken numerous clips at a rowing regatta using a Sony DCR - SR200 (mpeg files) and a Panasonic DMC - FZ38 (m2ts files). I download the files (approx 50/50 of each) into VS X3 and edit accordingly. Once finished I create a video file using the setting -same as first video clip - and transfer it to MF 7SE. I then add chapters and menus using the following project settings:
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Frame-based
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
The video format is DVD Standard Definition
If I burn a disc or create a disc image it comes up with the following message when it reaches 18% on the multiplexing stage - 'internal error in the DVD engine'
I made a video of the junior races first, using the same settings as above, and it came out great. The senior races is almost identical to the juniors but this error message comes up every time.
Any assitance is appreciated.
The size of the file is approximately 4 GB.Regards,

Re: Internal error in the DVD engine
With your 2nd video file, the one that's throwing the error, are you creating a video file that is a SD video file (down-converting), or creating one using the same properties as the video file's properties? I guessing your source clip is High-def, correct? Is your first video clip High-def or Standard-def? Right-click on each of them in the timeline of VS, select Properties and post them back here please..
Also since the crash is only occurring with the 2nd clip, and always at 18%, try looking at what you may have at that point in the production. Sometimes the Menu-In/Menu-out causes problems, try removing them. If you have a transition there, try removing it and see if the crash still occurs.

Re: Internal error in the DVD engine
Hi Ron
There are approx 30 clips in the project. Typically, the sequence is 2 mpeg files (SD) followed by 1 m2ts files (HD).
The properties of the mpeg files are as follows:
File Format: PAL DVD
Video type: MPEG-2 video, Upper field first
Total frames: 1896
Attributes: 24 bits, 720 x 576, 16:9
Frame rate: 25000/sec
Data rate: Varaible bit rate ( Max 9100 kbps)
Audio type: Dolby Digital Audio
Total Samples: 3 640 320 samples
Attributes: 48000 Hz 5.1 Channel
Layer: None
Bit rate: 448 kbps
The properties of the m2ts files are as follows:
File Format: PAL HDMV
Video type: H.264 Video
Total frames: 4926
Attributes: 24 bits, 1280 x 720, 16:9
Frame rate: 25000/sec
Data rate: Varaible bit rate ( Max 16568 kbps)
Audio type: Dolby Digital Audio
Total Samples: 9 457 320 samples
Attributes: 48000 Hz
Layer: None
Bit rate: 192 kbps
I have removed all the Fade In/Fade Out in each clip and it now goes past the 18% mark. Although I can copy the whole project onto disk, the audio (mp3 music files) is a bit jerky throughout the video. When I rendered the video in VS3 I used the 'Same as project settings' and not "Same as first video clip" that I normally use. Not sure if this affects the audio problem but after working on this project for over 3 weeks I will accept this blip.
Thanks for the assistance and if there is a solution to the audio problem, please let me know.

Re: Internal error in the DVD engine
There may be a solution to the mp3 audio. VS will have problems with mp3 audio that uses the Lame codec. Try converting the mp3 file to a WAV file and use the WAV file.
