Hi Candy

I have not had problems in the past when using clips from my TZ5.
But having read your post I did a few tests and indeed I now have problems with all Mov types.

I can play ok in Clip mode but Project Playback stutters like a scratchy "heart beat" as you called it. My system is upto date with the correct versions installed.

I re-installed X3
At this point in time I have no problems with playback.
Obviously X3 is nagging me to update but I will put that off for a while just in case it is causing problems.
Unfortunately X3 does not give a repair option otherwise I would have tried that.

My question to you is “have you re-installed X3”?

Ron and Erdna, thanks for your info. I'll try to convert the video audio to specs you gave me. It just seems strange that when I first made this video at the end of last week, it worked fine but during my edit at some point a message popped up from Corel to do a patch update. I can't remember what it was though. I did the update however and then went back to editing and after that the video audio of my MOV files would not work. I've never had a problem with MOV files from my camera before with Corel. I will work with it some more tomorrow, my brain is fried tonight (1:44 AM in Los Angeles).

thanks,
Candy

Have you tried a System Restore to a point before the update was applied?

Trevor, I did uninstall and reinstall X3 and then did the updates and still had the problem. Didn't think to not do the updates to see what would happen.
BlackLab, I will try the system restore.

thanks for hanging in with this for me.

Hi Trevor, I just uninstalled Pro X3 and reinstalled it not doing the updates/patches and now the MOV files work fine as far as the audio problem is concerned. Thanks so much for doing the tests. So now how do we tell Corel about this? Abiel might be reading this thread possibly and they already know? I am too getting the messages to do updates/patches but I'm not going to do them like you, for now.

Thanks again,
Candy

I know this was posted a while ago but I have the same problem and didn't know if a "fix" has been found. Unfortunately I cannot simply skip the update because the program then crashes. I am also missing the audio completely in any of the files I create. Once rendered the skipping is not present nor is any other sound, and this is only true for the .MOV files in the project everything else functions normally.
I really apreciate any assitance, I have re-installed several times and created files where all of the audio is split from the video. Nothing has produced a different result.
THANKS!

Describe your problem: Audio corrupted after rendering to mpeg-2, some of the voice sounds repeat, e.g: "hulhulle" in stead of "hulle" especially where there was a lot of background noise or a microphone problem in the video. Original file playback is fine on the audio with no distortions.

Properties of your source files, including video, audio, image files (format, file size, where did you get it?): multiple video-editing with files 1.95GB, 4 camera clips. Format: mpeg-2 vbr9100, dolby digital surround 5.1 bitrate 448. Upper field first. Sound splitted from main video to use only one soundtrack for end result. Sound track uninterrupted (without cuts) on voice or music track line. Mpeg-2 files copied from hdd camcorder to pc. Clips are imported using source project settings.

What devices are involved and their mode of connection?: No connected devices involved, hdd camcorder records in mpeg-2 and files are copied to pc hdd through USB2. We use 2 computers with same specs to do editing and the original files have no problems on the other computer, as well as no distortions after rendering the same project file. All the original files are on both computers.

Project Properties (important): upper field first, mpeg-2 vbr 9100, 100% quality, audio bitrate 448, dolby digital 5.1. Video files are created using "same as Project settings.

Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD): Mpeg-2 DVD Pal same as project settings

Output Properties (cogwheel in lower left of burn screen):
Same as project properties

PAL or NTSC: PAL

Error Codes (if any):
no error codes while rendering.

I am using VS Pro X3 with a clean install of Windows Pro 7 64-bit. I didn't have this kind of problem on my former Win 7 Pro 64-bit installation. System was upgraded to new terrabyte disk and that was the reason for new installation. Disk is running without problems.

I don't know if it influence the project rendering, but most of the clips have video filters such as desnow or sharpen, because of low light shooting environment during actual recording of the event. I did render only the audio as a standalone audio (wav surround sound 5.1), but the distortions were still there. As I already said, the project file (same one copied to my other pc) render without audio problems. The other pc did have a previous installation of vs x2 on it,but I don't know if this influenced the copy of VS X3 on said computer.

Any help will be appreciated. I just uninstalled Pro VS X3 from this computer and is in the process of downloading a new copy from the corel server.

Oh well, I don't see anyone having a response on my problem...sigh...

Anyway, I called Corel Support today, explained the problem I have with my mpeg-2 renderings and they sent a hotfix by email. And it really fixed it!
Almost banged my head from frustration earlier today! After four Windows reinstallations and up to five VS Pro X3 installation I really reached breakpoint with knowing there is no hardware issues on my pc!

I can recommend calling Corel Support with a problem! :P

Thank you for posting that. :)

What Hotfix could they have sent you? Was it specific to your problem, or could it have been one of the service packs?

I already had SP2 installed. The hotfix was for mpeg-2. The link is: ftp://coreluser-d...../VSX3ProHotfix/VSPX3_TSK3329.exe.
I don't know if I have the right to post the link, therefor I modify the link, otherwise people will have access to corel's ftp server. They asked me if I have SP2 installed and I confirmed. Then they asked what type of video file, and I said mpeg-2. Then they sent me the hotfix by email.

I just can't understand why I needed the hotfix now, and my installation on my other pc doesn't need the hotfix. Anyway, I am just glad it's fixed. :P
