Audio Missing or corrupt
Hi Ron, can you help me too? I worked about 4 hours last night on a 13 minute video in ProX3. Before starting I uploaded patch from link that popped up when I opened ProX3. When all done editing, I "shared" it to YouTube via ProX3. This morning when I checked YouTube I found the video audio is corrupt meaning where I had it muted, in some clips it now has scratchy "heart beat" sounding video audio and in some places no video audio where I wanted it, whaaaa. I went back to the original .VSP file to see what was wrong, but the video audio looks good in the wave data. Any ideas what might have happened? I think I'm going to have to dump the whole VSP file.
thanks again

Hi Candy,
I split your post off the thread it was on. as it pertains to audio being corrupt, not wanting to remove or delete it.
I can try, and I'm sure others will jump in. First we need some information to work with. What info you ask?.. You can find it here:

Re: Audio Missing or corrupt
Thanks Ron for moving this to new feed:
Properties of your source files, including video, audio, image files (format, file size, where did you get it?): Answer: I downloaded video files from Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 digital camera, as .MOV files.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection?: Answer: Connected camera direct to computer, used Windows 7 to capture, not Correl. This has always worked fine for many videos I've edited.
Project Properties (important): not sure where to get these, sorry.
Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD): Answer: Used ProX3 Share, then Upload to YouTube, selected "Same as Project Settings". Before I did that I tried from Share to make a video file to WMV HD 720 30p. That file was made ok it seemed. Then I tried uploading that file from YouTube but it was going too slow so I exited out of YouTube during the upload. After that I used the Upload to YouTube feature in ProX 3 when the .VSP file was open, selecting "Same as Project Settings". Video file that was made for YouTube upload was .MP4. That file uploaded ok to YouTube but then when I played it in YouTube, there were the audio errors.
Size of .MOV movie clips were from 8 MB to 150 MB. There are approximately 40 clips. Total length of raw clips on video timeline in .VSP file is about 20 minutes. I edited it down to 13.
Output Properties (cogwheel in lower left of burn screen):
PAL or NTSC:
Error Codes (if any):
Product Version: e.g. VS10, VS11+, VS X3 Pro, DVD MovieFactory, DVD Factory 2010, ect.. I am using Pro X3
Maybe I chose the wrong file type for the upload? My video was not HD.
Somewhere in all this a message popped up when I was in the .VSP file, something like "file corruption". Sorry I can't remember exactly when that message popped up. I just said ok or closed that note and when on. Hm, a clue something corrupted, right?
Maybe in all my stop uploading to YouTube and wrong choices of file type could have caused the corruption?
Thanks for your help.

Candy,
I'm pointing you to a recent post by Abiel, who is a Corel rep. I'm not sure you're having the exact problem with MOV files, but it seems that there have been several people having this problem. Try Abiel's instructions to see if it helps.

Re: Audio Missing or corrupt
After I downloaded updates, patches to VS Pro3, I am still having the problem with video audio with .MOV files. Original MOV clips are fine. I never use to have this problem, .MOV files always worked fine as far as video audio. I tried loading only 4 onto the timeline but still the audio is only a scratchy sound that goes on and off. I tried other .MOV video files and am having the same problem. This problem coincides with when I downloaded a patch yesterday. Do you think I should uninstall VS ProX3 and do a reinstall? In the meantime, I'm going to use Windows Live Movie Maker just to get it done. I like Corel's timeline so am fairly determined to make it work. Hm, I still have VS ProX 2, I'll try the files there, stay tuned.
thanks

Re: Audio Missing or corrupt
More ... so I loaded the .MOV files I have on ProX 2 that I still have on my computer and I don't have the video audio problem. I'm going to use Windows Live Movie Maker to get it done fast but will use ProX 2 until possible more suggestions on problem with ProX3, to uninstall or not, that is the question.

Hi Candy
Can you right click on one of the original Mov files and select properties, what are they?
Are you able to use Make Movie Templates Manager to create a Quicktime/Mov file using these settings.?
Using Share- Create Video File --Same as Project Settings is probibaly not what you need.

Re: Audio Missing or corrupt
Trevor, I guess the make movie manager thing is too advanced for me. When I'm in the .VSP file in ProX3 I can see make movie manager but I don't know what to do, so sorry. What I did tonight is uninstall ProX3 and then reinstall it and then did the patches again but I have the same audio problem with the video audio, it is basically gone with MOV files in ProX3. ProX2 does not have this problem. I still have it loaded on my computer.
So just now what I did was convert my MOV files to MP4 and now I don't have the video audio problem with ProX3, so this suggests to me that it is something in ProX 3 when using MOV files that is causing the video audio problem. Keep in mind I did all the updates and patches from link Ariel gave in this thread. Converting the MOV files to MP4 causes them to be slightly less clear however. I can do these conversions or go back to ProX2. Interesting. Any way to ask Corel about this?

Re: Audio Missing or corrupt
Hi Candy
I asked for the video details from the TZ3 to be able to view the audio details, I have a TZ5 and would compare properties.
It does seem strange that all is well with X2 yet X3 has problems with the audio.
It may be worth while contacting Corel Support Web Page
I do not have a direct link but there is a gentleman Abiel from Corel frequenting this forum.
He posted here regarding a Mov issue
Hope this Helps

Hi Trevor: Here are the video details in attachment of one of my MOV files that has the video audio problem in ProX3. I think I figured out what you were asking for. MOV file is from my Lumix TZ3.
In the meantime I'll check out link from Abiel.
thanks for all your continued help.

Hi Candy
Thanks for the image, but can you do that again, but right click a clip in the timeline or library of video studio.
This should give further details.

Re: Audio Missing or corrupt
The audio being 8-bit mono, and especially only 8,000kHz poses problems for various video editing programs. I have another program, that throws a fit with some old clips where the audio portion of the video is only 32,000kHz. It simply will not use it. The video is fine, it just balks at the audio. So what I done is to recode the audio track of the video. I think that default audio setting in VS X3 is 16-bit, PCM, 48000kHz Stereo.
To do this in VS, I inserted the offending video clip, went to the Share>Create video file, and then choose Custom. I made sure the video file type was the same as my video clip, then in the Options dialog, went to the audio part, and changed the compression from the 12-bit, 32,000kHz to 16-bit, 44100 or 48000kHz, and render the file. After doing so the other video editing program has no problem with it.
What you can do is use a third party program like Super, by erightsoft.com, to convert the audio or both video and audio, to one that VS will accept. Or in VS try to do like I described above. Once that is done, use the new video file to edit and so on.

Re: Audio Missing or corrupt
I got a simular problem some time ago. I batch converted the mov files with VX3 (file>batch convert), selected 24 bit integer instead of "none" for the audio options and all went OK.
