Tracking Lines

Post by Ted. »

I have a video file created from one of my old VHS tapes. Unfortunately the display shows two rows of tracking lines about two inches from the top and bottom. Can VS ProX2 filter them out?

You may be able to use the Crop filter to cut off the top and bottom of the clip.

Thank you for that, Jeff, but I think I'd lose too much display. I'll try it and see, anyway.

Hi Ted

Are the lines visible on all VHS tapes or just associated with the one tape. :?:

If on all tapes then I would suspect the VHS player, I would use a head cleaner to see if it improves your quality of playback, then capture again.

It may well be a tracking problem, some players allow us to manually adjust the tracking of the tape playback, maybe worth investigating.

Otherwise I think you will have to accept that they are just old tapes.

Hi, Trevor,

Yes, only one tape is the problem and this VCR has tracking controls, but they don't fix it. Guess I'll just have to put up with it.

Thanks, anyway.
