I upgraded just a few weeks ago to PSP x3 from x2 when an update for x2 was forced upon me and it was not opening anymore because of the updating cache hang.
I have had nothing but problems to the point where they sent me the disk even though I only did the download upgrade.
SOOOO....
Skipping all of the minor and other not so minor issues, I have come to the point where I can not do anything aside from open 1 .psp file and save it again.
No matter what I try, I get the "not enough memory" message. I have dug through this board and the web, unchecked all sorts of options, spent $100 on a huge external and emptied almost everything from my drive into the external. It still takes well over 10 minutes to open even after a fresh restart on the whole system and the external disconnected.
I have no issues with anything else in my system. It's about a year old, and I use CCleaner on a regular basis to keep it from getting bogged down. I have no other taxing programs in the system outside of the normal things.
This is putting a very large dent in my photography business. I'm planning to do a full delete and reinstall of x2, but even that was not opening about 80% of the time, but I'm hopeful that it's going to be better with the photos off the drive.
Does anyone have ideas on what I can do before I have to deal with an uninstall?

Welcome to the Boards ... though I wish it were under better circumstances!
X3 appears to have known memory problems. See this very long thread: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 10#p197610

Re: Huge Memory issues preventing all editing.
Well, I arrived here because of that thread... but I got really lost in it. I tried some of the things, but it's almost worse now that I did them.
I'd call them, but I'm not paying $15 for them to tell me everything is ok, because that's most likely what they will say. I spent over 2 hours maybe on the phone with a great support guy the day I upgraded, but that was the install help line, even though this has been going on consistantly since install.

Hello originalandrea,
Have you tried updating your PSP X3? If not, then you can download all the updates from this URL: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 9872271743, I suggest that you start from SP1 then SP2.

Re: Huge Memory issues preventing all editing.
OK, downloaded the two patches and was able to save a jpg but not until I resized the collage I wanted to finish. Wasn't even able to resize before, but couldn't save the full version still. Still got the memory message.
11 hours on one $20 collage. Man, oh man.
Something is still very wrong with the software. It's still extremely slow, and giving errors on the higher memory stuff. My memory runs at about 30-40% usage normally. I did a memory test on the computer and it says it's fine. 4gigs... it should be plenty, right?

Re: Huge Memory issues preventing all editing.
OK, dug really deep in my system and with PSP closed I run at 30% used physical memory. With it open I'm running at close to 90% withouth even working in it. No wonder I can't do anything.
Probably just going to switch to Adobe. I've been using PSP since around 1998 and hate to let it go, but this is just too much stress. If I'm going to spend $100 on memory to try to fix the issue, I'd rather spend the money on a program that actually works (I get an Adobe discount). I really wish that Corel didn't charge for customer support. That's a HUGE turn off.
Oh well. By PSP. Loved you.

Re: Huge Memory issues preventing all editing.
It sounds like MediaCataloger again. Open PSP, open task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to Processes tab, end process for MediaCataloger. If this fixes it then change the name to MediaCataloger. You won't be able to have PSP find all your pics for you but for some that's really not an issue.
