I am using a Flip Slide HD video camera. After importing the videos into Corel VideoStudio, a video that should be 25 seconds long only plays 12 seconds of the video. The big issue is that the rest of the video is not there. It's almost like someone cut part of the video off. When I play the video on the camera and on my desktop with Quicktime, it plays the entire video. After I import the video, it is cut in half again. I can't figure it out.
Please help!
Thanks!

Re: Flip Slide Video Getting Cut When Importing
Welcome to the forums,
- What version of VS are you using?
- Are you copying the clips from the Flip to your HDD, then just inserting them into VS?
- When you play/preview the video clips in VS, are you in Project or Clip Mode?

[*]What version of VS are you using? I don't have access right now but will get back to you. I know it is at least a year and a half old.
[*]Are you copying the clips from the Flip to your HDD, then just inserting them into VS? I have tried inserting them directly from the camera as well as from my HDD. Same issue. But again, when I play them on my computer, the whole clip plays.
[*]When you play/preview the video clips in VS, are you in Project or Clip Mode?[/list]--Good question. I will look into this tomorrow.
I did finally find what format or codec it uses, h.264. VS uses this codec wrapped in the MPEG-4 container. Do the video clips recorded by your Flip use the mp4 extension or mov? It uses mp4.
Thanks for your quick response.

Re: Flip Slide Video Getting Cut When Importing
If your version of Video Studio is not X3 -- and indeed, even if it is! -- you have at least two things working against you. First, earlier versions had difficulty with 720p video -- though a patch to X2 partially fixed that. X3 can handle 720p natively.
However, more seriously, your camera films at 30 frames per second *progressive* mode -- which is equivalent to 15 frames per second *interleaved*. That will give good quality, but unfortunately, Video Studio (including X3) does not seem to be able to handle any video shot in progressive mode. In effect it converts the video to interleaved, and thus halves the quantity of video you see. I am unable to account for the remainder of the missing video. That could be the result of an earlier version of VS not being able to handle 720p video properly.
I have no idea when, or if, Corel will ever bring out a patch to fix this, or include it in a new version. You would need to ask Corel that. Apart from one or two helpers who occasionally chip in here, none of the regular staff (Admin, Moderators) of this Board work for Corel. We are just users like you.
Does the FlipShare software which is pre-loaded into the camera and can be set up on your computer, offer any possibility of converting the video to be interleaved at 30 frames per second? I ask since the camera does not appear to have a menu which would allow you to set this as the filming mode...

I had the same problem. I ended up fixing by randomly converting the mpeg4 file to mov - in case this helps someone in the future.mrbruns wrote:I will look into this tomorrow. I appreciate your help!
