5.1 dolby digital
I have Sony DVD 403 camcorder that records 5+1 dolby digital DVD video. When I edit the video 5+1 is recorded as only 1 channel. Does UVS 9.0 support 5+1 ? Is there any video editing program that support 5+1.
in the same thread below (now on page 2) you will see the following comment from maddrummer3301:
I don't understand why "Sony" would make a camcorder with 5.1 audio
for people making home movies.
Doesn't make sense to me unless they are trying to get more people to
use their line of Sony products for video editing/dvd creation that does
handle 5.1 sound.

5.1 editing
Actually, there are several video editors that handle surround sound. Magix, Pinnacle, Sony, Adobe are a few at various price ranges.
Phenom X4 965 3.4Ghz, 8gig DDR3, 120GB SSD, 1TB HD, 500GB, Bluray & DVD Burners, ATI HD5550, Epson scanner, Canon 9000Pro, Sharp AL1551CS laser printer, Sony TRV740 8mm digital, Canon HV20 and Sony SLTA65VK, Win7 HP 64bit

I can imagine, since with standard DV cams we can overdub the stereo sound to add background "noises", those noises could be added to the surround tracks.
And also we could use an external mic to record, I do that always, I shoot with a mike in Audio In socket and headphones on Audio out, you would be surprised by the DV sound quality.
By home production standards of course. I know DVCPro does it better.

The good news is that Dolby seems to have a new low-cost license called Dolby 5.1 Creator.
A press release says you can get a $9.00 add-on to Pinnacle Studio ($100) But, I can't find it on Pinnacle's site.
Another press release says Nero has it too.
