How to make chapters using VS Pro X2
It seems I can't do this simple thing. Using Pro X2 I rendered together 4 mini videos on different subjects. Total time 40 minutes. I hit Share>Create Disc> DVD>Add Chapter (I added 4 chapters)>OK>Selected one of Thumb Nail Menus templates>Preview... and the menus shows only one chapter thumbnail, saying 1/1. I've done it over and over again and can not get my 4 chapters to show on menus template. Can anyone help? Thanks... Mike

Mike,
You should have 2 menus, one being the Main or Top menu, the second for the chapters. The chapter menu will have the thumbnails for all the chapters.
When you added your chapters did you construct a separate menu for them? Look below the preview window for a menu, Currently displayed menu. It probably reads Main Menu. Click the down arrow to change to the Chapter Menu.

Re: How to make chapters using VS Pro X2
Thanks Ron. Did as you said and now have my four chapter menu. But... since the viewer first sees only my main menu, how will they know there are chapters or another menu? On the main menu there is nothing that says this or how to go to chapter menu. So on main menu I had to write "Click thumbnail for chapters. Was this necessary? Mike

If you only want a menu with 4 'chapters' on it , it would be easier if you did not render your 4 videos into one first - just import the four videos individually into the 'Create Disc' timeline - then you will have only one menu with four thumbnails on it. By default you also have a 'play all' button which is usually selected by default when you enter the menu - so just pressing 'play' at that point plays all - or selecting individual thumbnails will play individual clips.

Shouldn't be necessary. Clicking the thumbnail on the main menu should take you to the Chapter Menu. If they press the Play-all button (arrow), it will then do just that, unless they choose on their remotes to return to a menu.

Re: How to make chapters using VS Pro X2
But as a newbie I did not know you had to click on thumbnail to get chapter menu. Why not something indicating this. I was looking all over screen for a cue that would take me to chapters and all I saw was a play all arrow. So for people like me I suppose you have to write in what I did. Or am I still missing something? Regards, Mike

Nope, not missing a thing Mike. Corel is no different than about any other that I've used or seen, when it comes to their help and user guides. They are written using generalities, vague, and in a real hurry. Several times they seem to just copy/paste from some earlier version. If you look, the User Guide and Help file are one in the same. Seldom is there any variance between them. Again Corel is not alone on this.
With the "consumer grade" programs there's one nice little thing left out, the ability to construct and use playlists. With the more expensive programs you can. With a playlist, you can control how your DVD plays. You can set it up to play in a variety of ways. So if someone clicks on that arrow (play-all) or just press the Play button on the remote, if you have the playlist built so that when either of those are pressed, it will still take them to the menu or where ever you desire.
