X3 and MOV files

Post by EllieW »

Just got a Kodak si8 video camera for my bday... It records in MOV - I am able to open them up and I get through the whole video - 7 minutes... then I go back to clip some areas and the sound gets choppy!?? If I save - close the program and open up again -- I get the sound AOK again ???

What is this about?

Thanks for your help.....

VS doesn't like newer versions of QuickTime, which MOV files use. Try installing an older version of QT and see if that helps.

Actually I don't have the newest version of quicktime... because - I already had issues with VS and Quicktime - http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38491 The Quicktime version I am running is - 7.5.5

I bought this software to do some simple editing.... and everytime I use it - it isn't simple!

Hello EllieW,

First thing you need to do is to make sure you have all the updates installed. You can visit this URL:http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 0460544373, for all the updates for your VideoStudio.

Abiel Corel NA - Thanks for your reply.... I checked and I have all the latest updates for VSP -- now what? I'm sure I had all the updates... but went ahead and downloaded and installed again! Opened up the MOV file and the sound is extremely choppy!
I needed a video done the other day... went and downloaded the free trial of Cyberlink PowerDirector and was able to edit, convert and was able to upload my video in less than 1/2 hour ... Did I totally waste my $$ on VSP??

Hi

Smart Proxy
If your files are HD then you should use Smart Proxy, this creates smaller files that allows easier playback/editing.
The proxy files do take some time to create, view the Proxy File Manager to make sure you have these files created.

There seems to be a few problems and posts regarding Mov files.
I have just re-installed X3 which seems to have fixed my choppy audio.
Its early days as I am now running X3 without any updates.
