I am going to do a clean installation of Windows 7 pro 64bit. Now I am running Win XP pro and I would like to keep my Projects that I have created with my VideoStudio pro x3. All my capturing videos are on another drive. What files should I backup so I can reinstate them on win 7? I know this might have been discussed before but I can not find the answer.

Re: What to back up when moving from XP to Win 7
PLEASE guys I am going to install win 7 pro this weekend and I want to transfer back my saved projects when I reinstall VSx3. What files should I save on an external drive so I can add them after I install win 7?

Hi
Your project files are ****.VSP, Video Studio Project You need these files.
The timeline content, the video, images and audio should be backed up.
You say that the video is on another drive, Then move your Project files to that drive.
Smart Package.
I would opt for using Smart Package, this creates a folder containing your entire project including video. The folder can then be saved to the other drive.
At least this gives you a second backup. To be sure to be sure........
When you open the project on Windows 7 you may get the re-link request, re-linking once should find all files/clips
Good luck
I just noticed that using Smart Package also duplicates all files including sample files provided by VS, very useful

Thanks Trevor
I have installed now Win 7 pro 64bit and VideoStudio pro x3 is working OK. Let's see now if things are going to be quicker, rendering e.t.c.
