VideoStudio 3X Pro crashes while creating H.264 MPEG4

Post by Electron752 »

I'm converting some long videos that are imported from a DVD to H.264 MPEG4 for use on an iPod touch. The iPad can natively use H.264 MPEG4 without additional conversions. This is the main reason I upgraded from VideoStudio 12.

I'm finding that video studio crashes if the converted video is too long ( say > 1 hour ). It converts find, but at the end when it merges the .v and .a files it crashes either near the end of the merge or very shortly after. The videos are all 16:9 720x480 and I've tried a whole bunch of different resolutions and bitrates with both H.264-BASELINE and H.264-MAIN. I've also tried converting to an intermediate format such as 1920x1080 mt2 with either MPEG or .H264 encoding which succeeds then converting to the MPEG4. Nothing works. I always get the crash at the end.

I've applied all the pathes from the website. I tried running the program on both Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit.

Anybody seen anything similar or have any ideas?

I downloaded the SP3 patch which was just released today and converting seems to work better now.
