Open source DVD burn software

Post by wjmund »

My daughter has need of software to burn dvd's from her old digital tapes. She has an older copy of adobe premier and has the editing done. The tapes are probably d-avi? Any recommendations for her. She is using windows xp prof'. Should i just buy her VS-x3 so she can use that burner that corel lets us download? Thanks for all help.

To create the proper DVD structure (VIDEO_TS folder, IFO & and VOB files, etc.), you need more than "burning" software... You need DVD Authoring software.
Should i just buy her VS-x3...?

Since the editing is already done, Corel Movie Factory (Currently $30 USD) might be the way to go. (Movie Factory should have no trouble converting DV/AVI files to VOB/MPEG-2, but please download the trial version first. ;) )

Two open-source DVD authoring programs:
DVD Flick
DVD Styler
