Hi Philip
Welcome to the forum
We need a lot more info regarding your project, your video files types etc

Quicktime can give some problems when using the latest version, but not knowing what you are using makes it difficult to comment.

Re: Error rendering pro x2
Hello philip,
If you are indeed using VideoStudio Pro X2 on your Windows 7, that could be a problem. Since VideoStudio Pro X2 is not compatible with Windows 7. You may want to try the latest version VideoStudio Pro X3 which is fully compatible with Windows 7. You can download it from http://www.corel.com/trials. You can just use the Windows compatibility mode, to make old program run on Windows dd7. I still cannot guarantee the stability of the VideoStudio Pro X2. The steps for the compatibility mode is posted here.

Re: Error rendering pro x2
sorry OK
1. The Version of program is being used is pro x2 ultimate
2 all patches/updates have been installed relating to that version of the program from corel.
3. the source files came from:
- Avi off camcorder
- MOV off camera in movie mode (quicktime movie), also picture MJpeg compressor and JPEG movie
- mp3 audio layer 3 files
- jpg 24 bit photos from camera
- mpeg4 audio files
4. this project is a series of stills video and music taken from a variety of cameras and audio files on the computer and the internet. some is from utube such as tv theme
5. I downloaded via a firewire from cameras and USB
6. Video data rates vary 1763.90, 30.000 frame/sec, 1683.25
7. Project Settings are
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
8. PAL
9. error occured during rendering to either create a file or create a disk in DVD mode and 'as project'
'10. no error codes it just says corel has stopped working but it doesnt seem to have any common area. i did have an issue with it crashing in preview at one particular area but when i removed the 3 pictures and the movie from that bit it now runs through in view mode ok.
running no other programs at the same time and running Windows 7 64 bit
is that enough?

Re: Error rendering pro x2
As Abiel stated, X2 is not designed to run under Windows 7, so that could be a source of at least some of your problems.
Also, as Trevor stated, since you are using MOV files they can be troublesome because of the version of QuickTime. Rolling back to an earlier version of QT usually fixes that problem.
I see you are also using MP3 audio. They, too, can be problematic at times, depending on the codec used to create them. Converting them to WAV files solves that problem.

Hi Phillip
Thanks for the information, we have a better idea as to what you are using.
Video editors can usually cope with a variety of formats but some not easily editable and can cause problems.
You seem to be using many different types, some probably HD.
Downloading video from the internet rings warning bells for me, but it’s a matter of trial and error in identifying the culprit,
that is assuming its not just a compatibility issue.
Rolling back QuickTime.

Re: Error rendering pro x2
Thanks folks for the feedback. its interesting W7 discussion because here it says it is compatible which is why i bought it in the first place. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compat ... &os=64-bit
it think its an issue in the file somewhere as by cutting the file up and creating a video file of each bit it seems to work. i have tags the files together in a new project to get it fixed.
as a mater of interest how can i burn iso files after they have been created do i need a seperate piece of software?

Hello Phillip,
Originally Videostudio X2 is not compatible with Windows 7, but you can download and install the Service Pack 2 you can download the update from this link: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 8647710467, hopefully that will help fix the crashing issue.

Hi Phillip
Nice to hear you have found a work-round and have managed to complete your project.
By the way did you roll back Quicktime to an earlier version??????????
Iso files
Earlier versions of video Studio provided a DVD Disc Image Recorder, for the life of me I cannot understand why they have removed this option. It would be good if they could provide as a download. Otherwise they might as well take away the ISO create option.
I think W7 comes with a Windows Disc Image Burner, can you confirm this option, please

Re: Error rendering pro x2
Trevor -- yes there is a Windows Disc Image Burner (note spelling of 'Disc') in Windows 7. However, it tends to be hidden away, and 'disappears' if you install a program like Nero which assigns to itself the automatic default role. However, you can (re)gain access to the Disc Image Burner in the Default Programs option of Control Panel by associating .iso files with it.
