Hi Trevor,

I can confirm that works... I used the DVD factory to produce a DVD which plays just fine. The part that I'm having problems with is viewing the converted AVI on my internet ready TV. Having produced the 16:9 avi as per steps 1 - 5 below, I then take that file and select the "Create video file" under the share folder to select a format (such as MPG or MP4) that the media player can stream. No matter what option I chose it simply won't fill the screen - often it actually seems to compress the clip into the 4:3 format so everyone is tall and thin.

Hi Malc

Quick reply…Not much time at the moment.

Can you look at your Project Properties and make sure that Non Square Pixel Rendering is selected.

When you Share Create Video File, from the save window select “options”, again make sure you are using Non Square Pixel Rendering

Trevor,

I used the 16:9 clip made as per instructions, saved the file as mpg and confirmed that there was a tick in the option to use non-square pixels option. I then played the resulting clip on the PC using media player - it plays OK and the aspect is 16:9. launched the nero media server application, selected the media option on the TV, navigated to the file and selected it to play - came up on the screen in compressed 4:3 aspect with black bars.... :?

I've attached the properties of the end result

Have you tried adjusting the aspect ratio on your TV's remote control?

Hi Ken,

It's set to 16:9 - and I can play downloaded trailers for movies etc from the same location on the TV just fine. This only seems applicable to video produced from clips taken from the camera and then processed to 16:9.

Hi

I don’t understand whats going on here.

The disc you created is a standard 16:9 DVD and plays on your remote players as ok.

However the raw Mpeg played via the nero media server application shows as 4:3.

It has to be the settings of the media server, I do not have any experience with this application.

What type of files play ok, what are the type you download.?
I still think it’s a Non Square Pixel issue.
If your media server does not support Non Square Pixels then it will display the 16:9 as 4:3.

Earlier I think you mentioned Mp4 files………
Convert your “DV Avi 16:9” to MOV MPEG4 using 1280 x 720 frame size.
You will have to use the Custom option and User Define the frame size.

Trevor, that makes two of us !

Ok I took the re-rendered video that was the result of the above procedure and this time stuck it on a memory stick, so it was using that rather than the media centre to play over the network. Same result !

I've gone through all the options for the picture in this function and in terms of size there is "full" or "original". "Original" displays the clip in the centre of the screen, approx a foot square (TV is a 37" LG). "Full" displays the clip full height of the TV but compressed with black borders left and right. The strange thing is that I have a HD trailer for a computer game and for Avitar, which play fine at full screen. OK I know these are 1920 x 1080, so maybe the issue is with the TV, I don't know.

Any other suggestions ??

I'll give that a go in a moment

Update:
Nope...
Did manage to get it near by setting to 1920 x 1080, but it was still slightly cropped on one side (possibly as I re-positioned the clip to suit the frame after applying the distort/full frame/aspect ratio option), but the audio was not supported, and the image wasn't great

I'll keep trying

Trevor has already outlined the step by step procedure in this thread. For me it works fine when producing a DVD. My problem is that my internet ready TV won't display a wide screen full screen picture when streamed over my network from the PC.

Nara76, welcome to the forums, :)

We need to know more information, like what version of VS you're using, and something about the video files. You can go to the sticky topic at the top of this forum entitled, Read this first before posting, for a guideline on what and how to obtain that information.
