I can create short videos from a bunch of jpegs but whenever I try to edit video file from my panasonic video camera the applicaiton just crashes. This isn't a 'sometimes' thing, this is ALWAYS. The software is basically unusable.
I have video studio 11.5, I run vista home premium (64 bit), I have 3Gb of memory on an intel quad core machine.
The files I'm trying to edit are AVCHD (.m2ts files). I get exactly the same problem when I try to edit mts files. I can import files from the hard disc but when I try to play them in the editor they play for 30 seconds or so then start freeze-framing then the application stops and I get a message from windows saying the programme has stopped working and it closes.
I'm only trying to import 2 or 3 files of less than a minute each - if I try to import a dozen or so the application crashes as soon as they are loaded.
Whats going on here?

Re: Video studio 11.5 constantly crashing
I too have a Quad like yours, and both Video Studio X2 and X3 have trouble playing AVCHD video smoothly, though neither have ever crashed when doing so. I have never tried it with 11.5+ but am not surprised that it would be similar (or worse).
The only solution is to use Video Studio's SmartProxy which creates a standard definition copy of your AVCHD which you then edit, but at the end, the edits are applied back to the AVCHD original...

Re: Video studio 11.5 constantly crashing
I'm using VS x2 Pro and it crashes too, not constantly but on average about every hour.
It's a real nuisance as I'm trying to edit a large AVCHD project which takes ages to reload after each crash. SmartProxy is on and all the clips show the SmartProxy icon.
I know it's a big question but where do I start?
I'd be grateful for any help.
