Post by jcouvaras »

Just logged on and an new update downloaded.
No message to say it was successful, but see the version number is 13.2.1.15
Is that new?
Wonder what the update had in it?

Thanks

Could this be the Service Pack 2 ?

Well answered my own question by looking in the Downloads folder for PSPPX3, and found a Service Pack 3 dated 11/16/2010, and the XML doc with it is dated today, 11/26/2010.

This is PSPPX3_Patch3.
The version number is 13.2.1.15 (not 13.3...

It says "Improve the performance and compatibility of Corel PSPP".
Attached is the small screen telling you what is updated.
I am currently investigating the Python Libraries but suspect a problem still :(

Plug-in compatibility means you can use 16 bit Plug-ins now. Big thumbs up on that one.

I have now tested the use of Python Libraries.
I have found one error - I cannot use the statement "from Tkinter import tkMessageBox".
I get an error message "ImportError: cannot import name tkMessageBox".

However, if I change the statement to "from Tkinter import * " it works
and subsequent statements using tkMessageBox work successfully.

Well at least tkInter works again, right? Now all I have to do is wait for the patch to become available for me. *sigh* Though interestingly enough the tech support guy I was just talking to said the update is not actually available, that the only way to get it is to download the trial. Which is bizarre. But oh well, apparently I have to wait for December. Well he said "might becoming in December but nothing is scheduled for November."

Has anyone tested the other big bugs? Memory not being returned, the tabs interface bug that Tim mentioned, cut copy and paste deleting pixels?

Haven't seen the update yet, either internally within PSPPX3 or on the website. Is there a different download folder location?

The Tabs Interface bug? Is this the one where the images in the 2nd and higher tabs open at 100%? If so it is not fixed..

Go to Help > Check for Updates... and that should find the update.

The tabs interface bug is not worded properly. My bad. If you collapse (auto-hide) the palettes into tabs then go into the Organizer or Express Lab and then back into the Full Editor the palette tabs will be duplicated. That's what I'm referring to.

dfdpiper, just keep trying the update option every few hours to see if it works like Tadjio suggests.

Though if what the tech support guy said is true then those who got it probably got it on a fluke. Which really annoys me. So if the update never shows up before December it's because it's not supposed to. Only way to get it then is for those who did get it to post it. But best to wait if there's a reason for them to postpone sending it to others.

I got the update, at least PSP updated today and now reads 13.2.1.15. Just opened the program and it told me there was an update waiting to happen.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

Shame, Tim, I was really hoping that one would be fixed.

Was actually really hopeful when I went into the organizer and came back out the tabs were not duplicated. Then I saw you post, tried the express lab and there was the same old bug. I did, however, notice that if I went into the organizer first the tabs never duplicated. So there is hope, but interestingly enough going into the express lab at all forces the MDI window to reappear even though I have tabs turned on. Spooky.

My initial tests, after downloading the Patch from the link Tim gave, show that the memory problem might be fixed. Can anyone verify?

I also answered my own question on the defloat selection bug, pixels are still removed at the bottom and the guide bug is still there.

And hitting Esc before some functions prevents them from being applied. So a number of the bugs are still there.

But if we can verify the memory bug then at least Memory and Tkinter are fixed. Woot! That's a plus.

Memory bug still appears to be present. I suspect it takes slightly longer to blow up but I can still break it with repeatedly opening, working on and closing big 16 bit TIFF files.
