Selection Menus

Post by wkadams »

I am getting ready to burn my project to dvd. I am at the create menu step. Is there a way to add more menu items. Most of the templates will just allow 4 menu selections per page. My video needs 5 selections. I would rather have them all on one page rather than have two pages of menus. I have hunted for a way to add the extra item but can't find a solution. Any ideas? BTW I am using VS Pro X2 on windows XP. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all. :D

Go to the Edit tab, then click on the Customize button. In the customize window, click on the drop-down menu located below the Menu-Out. There should be one option for Layout. That should provide you with various Layouts up to and including 8 titles.

Thanks Ron for the answer. I followed your instructions. When I selected the drop down on the customize page there is the choice of navigation button and text only layout. I chose the text only layout. This gave me only one option for a menu with 2 titles. I was expecting to be able to choose from many different layouts. Only had the one. Same thing for navigation buttons. Only had one option. Anything else I should be doing? Thanks again for your help. It is very much appreciated. :D

What template are you using? I think the Smart Scene menus are very limited, most Text and Thumbnail menus have the most latitude for customizing.

Do you still have your original VS X2 installation files? I ask because it seems clear you have not installed all the templates. I have just looked at my X2 installation, and it has 24 Smartscene templates, 29 text templates, and 42 thumbnail templates...

There are also a number of additional free ones provided by forum users that you can access here :-

including one with 12 selections.

Thanks again Ron for your response. I had tried several different templates with the same results. However, on further investigation, I found that I didn't have the bonus content packages loaded on my computer. I loaded that and got many more options. So I think I am set for the selection menus. Thanks so much for your help. Happy Thanksgiving.
