DVD WS crashes when I click the Burn project to disk button

Post by mr_fatron »

I've been working on a huge interactive DVD project, and I have a feeling DVD workshop just isn't up to the task.

My current problem is that whenever I click the burn project to disk button with this project, DVDWS crashes with an error in godmenudll.dll

The first half of the project worked fine, but now that I've added the second half, I've started having problems. If I go back and delete all of the new stuff I've added, the program still crashes.

I'm guessing I'm probably hosed and am going to have to go back and start the second half over. This is frustrating since I've had this happen to me twice now, and each time I've had to go back and redo good size portions of the DVD.

Any ideas how to get around this problem? Does anyone have experience correcting corrupted .dws files? Any suggestions for a program that will better support large interactive projects?

It could be a number of things outside of DVD WS. Is your PC up to the job is the first question? Adding the extra files may cause the problem if your PC is not up to handling all of those files.

There could also be something wrong with one or more of the files you added which has caused the problem.

If I were you I would uninstall DVD WS and reinstall it and start your project again, saving your project with a different name each time as you work through it.

It is so easy, and understandable, to blame software when it is not the cause. I know, been there done it.
Good luck

Another option would be to see if DVDWS will write a DVD folder or *.iso file.

If this is sucessful then just use a program like Nero to burn these to the DVD until you can find the system problem that's preventing writing to the disc.

My bet is that the temporary'preview files are still set to be on C:, which can cause problems if you have less than 5-10 gigs of free space available. The DVDWS preferences should really be set to put them on a separate drive, preferrably the one you should be using for video sources and editing.

PC is a 3ghz with 1gb of ram. 20 gig of free hard drive space on the C drive and 30 gig free on the drive where I'm storing the project.
There could also be something wrong with one or more of the files you added which has caused the problem
I've deleted files all the way back to just the first generic menu and it still crashes.
If I were you I would uninstall DVD WS and reinstall it and start your project again, saving your project with a different name each time as you work through it.
I haven't uninstalled the program because it still works fine when I open older projects, so I really think it's a corrupt project file. Re-installing will probably be my next step.
Another option would be to see if DVDWS will write a DVD folder or *.iso file.
Is there a way to do this without clicking the burn project do disk button? The only options I see are burn project to disk, burn disk image, and dlt. When I click the burn image to disk button, it crashes before I ever get the option of whether I want to just burn an iso, or actuall burn to disk.
My bet is that the temporary'preview files are still set to be on C:
I have about 20 gig free on my c drive,

Mr_Fatron did you ever find a solution?

I just upgraded to a new system and reloaded my WorkShop 2 program and when I go to click on the burn to disk/image button from the finish page, I get the error message saying workshop 2 has encountered an error and the submit error report. Error mentions the godmenudll.dll.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but no luck.

Any ideas or help would be great.
