How do I create a still image in VS10
Hi. I was wondering if there is a way I can create/save an image in VS 10 that I can use later on for cover art, etc. I tried to save a title as an image but I'm not doing something correctly.
Thanks,
Vinny
Thanks,

In Clip Mode, go to Clip>Save As Still Image. When in Project Mode, go to Tools>Save Current Frame as Still Image.

OK, I saved the image under "Tools". I put in my pictures folder but when I click on the image it doesn't load.
Is there a way to convert the still image as a jpeg file? I can't seem to view the image unless I am in Video Studio.
Thanks again!

What do you mean, you "put" it into your pictures folder? It should automatically go into the working folder you have set in Preferences.I put in my pictures folder but when I click on the image it doesn't load.
In Preferences you can choose to save it as a JPEG or BMP.Is there a way to convert the still image as a jpeg file?

Hi
There are two options to save an image from the timeline.
1 / From Clip Playback, the word “clip” adjacent to the play button is highlighted.
choose “Save as Still Image” from the right hand panel
or Clip (menu)-Save as Still Image.
This will create an image of the video frame, using the sizes of the video file.
It will be saved to the working folder, a thumbnail of the image will be placed in the library.(it may not be in proportion)
2 / From Project Playback, Tools “Save current frame as Image”.
This will create an Image as you see in the preview window.
What you see is what you get.
It will use the Project Properties frame size for your image, keeping the aspect ratio correct. Again a thumbnail will be placed in the library.
To Use---Simply drag the thumbnail from the library to the timeline

Re: How do I create a still image in VS10
Ugh!!!
I changed preferences to save the still image to jpeg and it does go to Pictures.
When I open the file in Pictures the image doesn't exist. I can only open the file in Video Studio. When I saved the still image, at the bottom of the window it only listed VS10, no other folder. Help!!!!

Some confusion in my mind here Vinny - when you say "it does go to pictures" - is that a folder on your PC ? - when you use Windows Explorer/My computer to view that folder what do you see - do you see a file called something like uvs101123-001.JPG ? - does it have a size (in Kb) - what are you trying to open that file with - what specific software - please name it.
You say "When I saved the still image, at the bottom of the window it only listed VS10, no other folder." - which window did it say that in ? - when you save a still image it just does it - no windows or folders appear - the only sign is a new thumbnail in the 'Images' library.
Have you tried going to the file in Windows Explorer/My Computer and RIGHT clicking on it and choosing 'Preview' - what does that show ??

Re: How do I create a still image in VS10
"My Pictures" is a folder in Windows Vista. That is where I wanted it to go and it did. the file had the name I gave it with jpg after it. When I open the icon Windows Picture viewer opens up but no pic is found.
The window that gives me only the VS10 option is in VS. There isn't a listing for any other folder. Do I have to type in which folder it should go to?
I'll try the right click in My Computer and let you know how it goes. I appreciate everyone's help with this. It is getting frustrating (though I really enjoy VS10!).

Re: How do I create a still image in VS10
OK, here is some more info:
I created my still image, went to "Tools" and "Save as still image" (I made sure preferences are set to jpeg.)Then I went to "File" , "Save as" and the window pops up with the folder as "Pictures" which is where I want it stored.
Underneath in the same window it says "File name" and I named my still image. Underneath that is "Save as type:"
The only options I have are "Ulead Video Studio 10 Project files (*.VSP)" or "Ulead Video Studio 9 Project files (*.VSP)". It will not allow me to type in or delete the above two choices.
Lower down in the bottom right corner it says "Browse". It let me type in jpeg but still no luck in opening the file, not even the Windows/My Computer, right clicking on it. In fact, "Preview" isn't an option when I tried to open it (it does show up with my other images from the internet or from my camera).
Is it my program?

Re: How do I create a still image in VS10
but there is still something strange here - when you are in VS10 and you choose either of the still image options you do NOT get an option to name or select where the image goes - it goes to the working folder which YOU specified in 'Preferences' with the default name uvs101123-001.JPG (or similar) - in Preferences YOU may choose any folder on your computer as the working folder - in the preferences window click on the square box to the right of the folder shown and you can browse to any folder - once you have specified a working folder everything you do in VS goes to it.
If you want to change the name you have to use My Computer and do a normal windows file name change.
AH - just read your previous post which you posted while I was typing
NO NO NO - you do NOT use 'File >> Save as' that creates a project file (.vsp) - you CANNOT use that outside VS it will only open in VS
As soon as you click on 'Save as still image' the image is created you do not have to do anything else a file with the name uvs101123-001.JPG (or similar) will be created immediately in the working folder specified in Preferences (F6) and a thumbnail will appear in the Image Library - check in preferences to see where that is OR right click on the thumbnail in the 'Images' library and choose properties to see the file path.
Check where your working folder is then browse to it in My Computer and you should find the image file which you can 'preview' or import into your image manipulation programme to edit and print.
