Combinning 3 mpg files create an even larger file

Good Day All,

I putting togther 3 mpg files from the hard disk of a camcorder that records in mpg format. Separately, all 3 files combine to approx. 1 GB. When I combine these files using VideoStudio PRO X3, my file size jumps to 2-2.5 GB. All I'm doing is combining and that's it. No effects, no tiltles, nothing. How come the size explodes so much and how can I combine the 3 files and still have the original combined size of approx. 1 GB? Let me know. Thanks to all in advance.

Hi zaboo

By combine I assume you are adding the three Mpeg2 files to the timeline
Then Share Create Video File
If you use Same as First Video Clip then the conversion/creation of the new file will use the original video properties and should be similar in size.
Any other option may change the file size.
Knowing the properties of your files would help, right click a clip and select properties?

OR
From Settings-Preferences-tick show messages when inserting first video…….
Start a new project
Add the Mpeg to the timeline.
A window will open prompting you to match the video file.
Select details
View the right hand panel, these are the properties of the mpeg video file.
If you wish copy and paste the details to the forum.

Selecting Yes/ will change the project properties to match the video.

Share Create Video File Same as Project Properties or First Clip……..
