PI 5 How can i stop it tracing lines round objects?

I have used this program for years and have always found it brilliant. I have since re-installed it on a new PC and every time i de-select an object it leaves a 1 pixel line around it. I have tried every option i can think of to remove it but to no avail. (But have learned how to turn on and off the dotted marquee) I am of course slightly embarrassed at using such an old version

but am now at a complete loss. can anyboby help? i know i have only done something stupid.

I no longer have PI5 installed but I believe there's a menu option called "Show Box Around Objects". This will display a 1-pixel box around each image. Is this perhaps what's happening? If so, find it in one of the drop down menus and turn it off.
