It's a Kodak Playsport but it isn't the camera. When I download the videos I can view them on my PC with vlc and media player and there's no issue with them. Actually, I can even look at the ones that are in the library that appear in the thumbnails and they don't have the problem when using vlc. It's definitely something unique to VS X3.Black Lab wrote:Since the problem also appears in the thumbnails in the library, I would say it is an issue with your camera. What kind of cam are you using, and how are you capturing the clips?

Re: VS Pro X3 Distorting Images
Ok I've done all these suggestions and sadly the problem still exists. However, what I see happening now is that when I play a clip, the image looks fine. I press "pause" and the image seems to jump one frame and it gets distorted. I press "play" and things clear up and it looks good. I again press "pause" and the image again seems to jump one frame forward and distorts. There's no text overlays or anything like that anymore as I removed everything and yet I still see the problem, although now it only seems to happen when I pause the clip. I wonder if this may have something to do with the converter I used to get convert the clips to avi from mov.trevor andrew wrote:Hi
I have been reading these posts with a little interest, my initial comment is Wow.
This wont help a bit but if you go to Settings – Preferences-Clip Display Mode as Thumbnail Only---will show your frames in full.
Smart Proxy is a must for HD video
You are not using Smart Proxy, the thumbnails show a small double icon when proxy files have been created.
Go to Settings –Smart Proxy Manager-Enable
Once enabled any clips added to timeline will have proxy files created, these do however take some time, view the proxy queue manager.
To manually create proxy files, right click clip--create smart proxy
Choose Shift + Click to select multiple clips.
How does it look with Smart Proxy enabled.?
Also Image 4
This shows the Project Playback Range, orange line.
Also shows below preview screen, in project playback--drag orange trim handle to far right.
Direct X
Manually updating Direct X has cured some strange problems with Video Studio.
Not cured by auto updates.
There is a link at the top of this forum to the latest downloads.

Hi
Does the distortion affect the final rendered file?
If so then it is a preview playback problem, at least the final video will be ok.
Are you able to import the original video clips?
I assume not otherwise you would be using them,
but if you can, right click a clip and select properties, what are they?
If it’s a problem with the converter….have you tried using a different converter or convert to another format?
