Movie Factory 7 SE

Post by ZL52 »

I'm having problems with DVD Factory Pro 2010, as it seems are many others!
I understand from the Forum that it is possible to download Movie Factory 7 SE from "Do More" in the relevent drop down menu.
Sadly, all I get from this is 'Printshop, Painter and varied music'. Is there anywhere else that I can find Movie Factory as from the posts it would seem this is a much more intuitive programme and I would like to give it a try?
Many thanks.

The alternate DVD MovieFactory 7SE is available to those that purchase and register VideoStudio X3 Pro. So if you purchased Corel Digital Studio it is not available to you. The reason for this is VS has in the past used an integrated burn module. When Corel released VS X3, it done away with the burn module, replacing it with DVD Factory 2010. This greatly upset the VS consumers, so they wisely decided to offer a free alternative of DVD MovieFactory 7SE, which is a trimmed down version of DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro.

Thanks for that information, Ron.. I purchased VS Pro X3 and registered it and hence the reason that I should be able to obtain DVD Movie Factory 7SE.
From what you suggest this shouldn't present a problem although there seems to be no access to it from my copy of the video programme. I have DVD Factory 2010 as I've stated and I understand from what you say that DVD Factory was made available because 2010 was rubbish. As I said, there is no access to download 7SE from the 'Do More. dropdown menu,
Can you advise further, possibly with an address to download 7SE
Many thanks for your help.

See if you can download it with this link. Sometimes it just takes you to Corel's trial download page. The link is suppose to be to DVD MF7SE though..

Thanks very much for that information, Ron.. I've downloaded 7SE and it opens up and appears to be OK. However, it doesn't seem to want to open VSP files and doesn't show VSP as one of the types in the drop down list. Checking the project I have completed and wish to burn, it gives the following properties which appear to me to be quite normal.
PAl 25 fps, MPEG, 24 bit, 720x576 25fps, Lower field first, DVD PAL 16:9
The project is a VSP file but when I check the drop down menu in 7SE, the video folder, in which I have the project, doesn't show up as one of the files available to select to burn to DVD. The file is there when I open the folder outside of 7SE. ie. it's in the video folder in my documents folder.
Do I have to change it to an MPEG file. ie. MPEG2 or 4? I would have expected that as the Factory is designed to work with Video Studio it would work naturally with a project created in Video Studio.
Your further comments would be appreciated.
Many thanks,

No, DVD MF7SE will not accept VSP files from VS X3, because DVD MF7 was released before VS X3 was on the table. It can accept VSP files from VS X2 and VS11. Also since DVD MF7SE is a stand-alone application, your project file will not automatically be carried from VS X3. You need to first create a video file, which if you're wanting to burn a SD DVD, should be NTSC or PAL DVD. Once that is done, you can click on the Share>Create Disc>DVD MF 7SE. Once it is open, insert your newly created video file, and proceed to build your menus, add chapters, and then burn.

I just burned DVD with Movie Factory 7 SE, it worked well but when I watch it, it ends and starts up again automatically without stopping at the Menu. I've spent quite a few minutes trying to find a button in it that would tell it to stop at the end with the beginning menu rather than just begin playing again. Do you know where that is? unless 7SE works that way?

thanks for your help

Thank you, Ron. I'm really showing my ignorance now. How do I create a PAL DVD file from the VSP video file? I had a look at 'save as' but this has no options other than a VSP file. I seem to recall changing and saving a file once before but I'm pretty certain that I used another programme altogether. I believe too that it took some considerable time. Is there a quick way to do this within the programmes?
Thanks again for your help, Roy.

In VS X3 go to the Share step, and then select Create Video File>DVD>PAL DVD 4:3 or 16:9. This will open the Create video file dialog window, where you provide a name for your video file, and the location where you want VS to save your video file. You can click the Options button, and choose to use Smart Rendering (will only work if your video clip(s) properties match the project properties), and to perform non-square pixel rendering. Once satisfied with the settings click Save, and VS will render your project to a video file. Once that is complete, you then use that video file in DVD MF7SE to author and burn a DVD.
