I have Windows 7 and DVD MF 7.
My sister gave me a little mini DV tape to transfer to the computer, do some editing, and burn it to a DVD. I saved it as an AVI on the computer.Once transferred over it plays smooth and fine in DVD MF7. Once burned to a DVD it has parts that go in slow motion. The audio continues but the video is in slow motion. This then makes the audio and video go out of sync until it gets worse and worse. What could be the problem? I have never had problems like this. Bad video? Corrupt somehow? Even though it plays fine in DVD MF7? I have read in another post here that it could be an audio/video multiplexing issue where during the conversion from AVI to MPEG-2 the two streams (video/audio) get out of sync. I can try and start over and save it as an MPEG this time, but just wanted to get some advice here first on what could be the problem. I have a brand new 6-core PC with 12 GB of memory so I don't think it's a computer problem where the CPU is being overwhelmed.

Your original video on miniDVD will be in MPEG2 format and so you might be better off keeping it in that format throughout rather than converting it to some flavour of AVI and later back to MPEG2 again.
How did you get the Video into your computer, did you place the MiniDVD in your DVD drive and use the import option or did you use some other means such as a transfer cable or by renaming VOB files to MPG?
You will find some hints in this link:

Re: Audio/Video out of Sync
I tried capture again and told DVD MF 7 to capture as an MPEG this time instead of an AVI. The result came out better. There was no slow motion scenes on the DVD, but the audio/video sync problem remained, although not as bad. About halfway thru the video things start not being synced up by about half a second. I found this info in an other posting here:
audio & video are separate "streams" multiplexed (interwoven) together in the audio/video file. Apparently, Something is going wrong during the transcoding process where your audio & video are de-multiplexed, converted to DVD-compliant audio & video, and then re-multiplexed.
Just as an example of what might be happening... Imagine that you have a video frame with some bad data. The bad video frame may be thrown-away, while the associated audio remains. When the audio & video are re-multiplexed, you have a sync problem.
As I have now captured in both AVI and MPEG and neither one gets rid of the sync problem, are there any other ideas how to capture where it can sync correctly? I tried capture with Virtualdub, as it has something called a "Capture timing dialog", which allows control of the way VirtualDub matches video to audio during a capture operation. It can insert "dummy frames" in spots where bad frames have been removed, therefore not causing a sync problem due to missing frames. It can also sync the audio to the video by resampling the audio to a faster or slower rate which is not noticeable. I thought that would solve everything, but when I tried that program the AVI came out as unplayable, so I am back to square one. Anybody have any ideas?

Re: Audio/Video out of Sync
Sorry, I do not have a miniDVD camcorder. It is a miniDV camcorder. I got the video to my computer by hooking up the camcorder to the computer via firewire.sjj1805 wrote:Please complete your system specifications in your user profile

Re: Audio/Video out of Sync
My issue can be closed out. It was a capture issue. Instead of using DVD MF 7 to capture I used Virtualdub, and it did a better job. When I add the video captured with Virtualdub to my DVD MF7 project file and make the DVD it comes out fine and in sync. So if anybody else is having audio/video sync issues try capturing the AVI with Virtualdub instead of DVD MF.
