I don't know why but when I put a DVD burned in MF6 or 7 into the DVD Duplicator at school they fail about 36% of the way though coping. I've tried regular -R as well as printable +R DVDs with the same results. Any ideas? I need to make up to 25 copies of every game for the coaches and players so I really need to be able to pop it into the Duplicator that makes 5 at a time, otherwise it's ties up my computer for hours every week if I burn them 1 at a time.
Thanks in advance for any input,
Viki

Re: Can't copy DVDs made in MF
This could be many things.
The disc youn are trying to copy has a fault in it and when trying to copy it it fails. Burn a new one with a high quality disc.
The discs you are using are of poor quality, only one needs to be bad and the rest will fail as the machine trys to burn all 5 at the same time, buy better quality discs.
If you aren't sure which discs to use for the duplicator, get hold of the manual and check.

Re: Can't copy DVDs made in MF
Thanks for the quick reply but It's not the disks, I've tried the same disks that the coaches use as well as printable DVDs, they have no problem duplicating them when burned in a different program. It is only when the game DVD is burned in MF6 that we have a problem making copies in the multi disk duplicator. We can make copies of the same one that fails in the duplicator by using the computer but that ties up the computer for hours. I like using MF6 because I can put in a nice menu and chapters on the games. At first I thought maybe it was because I printed on them before copying so I tried leaving the print area blank and still doesn't copy, so then I tried the non printable surface DVDs that the coaches had and still won't duplicate if I burn the games in MF6. It's almost like MF6 is authoring it like it's a copyrighted DVD or the duplicator thinks it's copy righted and won't let it be duplicated. Any other ideas? Maybe in the settings or preferences.
Thanks, Viki

Re: Can't copy DVDs made in MF
I assume these are the "copy" discs on the duplicator, and not the "master" disc from Movie Factory? Have you tried more than one master disc?I've tried regular -R as well as printable +R
Try checking your "master" disc with Nero DiscSpeed (FREE!!!). If DiscSpeed has problems reading the disc, or you don't see a smooth speed-graph, you need to make a new master disc. If you re-burn, try using a slower burn-speed... 4X or 6X... and if you still have trouble, try using a different brand/batch of blank discs.
Just because your master disc plays OK, that doesn't mean that it's error-free... Sometimes DVD players & DVD-player software can skip-over errors. Sometimes you'll see a glitch or a pause and sometimes you won't. But, when you're trying to copy the files, the operating system will stop when it runs into an uncorrectable error.
You can't copy-protect a burned disc... At least not with Movie Factory, and not accidently. It's almost like MF6 is authoring it like it's a copyrighted DVD or the duplicator thinks it's copy righted and won't let it be duplicated. Any other ideas? Maybe in the settings or preferences.
This particular problem is more-likely a problem with the burner* or the blank disc. Even if Movie Factory was making screwed-up files, there shouldn't be problems burning or reading the files from the disc. Am I making sense??? Like if you had a misspelled word in an Word document, or a wrong formula in an Excel file, you could still burn the file to a disc... If you had a bad video file, the DVD and the copy might not play, but you should be able to copy the "data".
* I'm talking about the burner on the computer that your'e using with Movie Factory, not the burner(s) in the duplicator.
P.S.
I might be a good idea to check all of those copies with Nero DiscSpeed. If you're making lots of copies, you're going to get a bad one once in awhile.

Re: Can't copy DVDs made in MF
Thanks for the help guys! Lowering the burn speed worked. I was able to copy several games that I burned the masters using MF.
