Hi Stefan

Are you sure you set Mov using H264 compression.

Using Video Studio you can set your properties when creating a template, but not using H264, there are however a further 21 compression options to choose from.

I set:-

QuickTime Movie Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 23.976 fps
Frame-based
Photo - JPEG
None, 8.000 KHz, 8 bits, Mono

I have just rendered your video using these settings and first impressions look good.
Then I used Mov -- MPEG 4 Visual

Make Movie Template Manager
New
File Format—Mov
Give the template a name
Compression tab—choose a compression, I used Photo - JPEG
General tab
Set Frame Rate-- 23.976
Frame Size—User Default to 1280 x 720

Hello Oti,

I'm Abiel from Corel Support. I understand your frustration and if you just bought the program a week ago, then you can still return the program defending on where you bought the program.

If you purchased the Videostudio directly from Corel.com, then you can still avail of the 30 day money back guarantee and you can request a refund by going to http://www.corel.com/return.

If you purchased the program from a retailer, then you may want to check with them first since they have their own return policy. If you like to know Corel's return policy, then you can click here.

I can still escalate you our concern to our Tech Support, just provide my email address via Private Message.

Upgraded the computer to a new one:
Intel i7 with 6 GB RAM, 120 GB SSD and 1,5TB storage disc, still the same problem. :(

Oti, you have failed to answer Trevor's questions. It would be helpful to know if you tried these suggestions.

Generally used to view still images but will also play the canon videos..
I am unable to play your sample video, seems a little strange as its Canon software.
The program displays “cannot play video” then closes/crashes without warning.

Are you able to use your Zoom Browser to play your clips?

I have ZB version 65115

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.

Been out of town + getting the new computer together, so now I have lots of processing power in the new computer (Intel i7 950/3 GHz and 6GB RAM, 120 GB Intel SSD etc.) :D

I've tested the settings suggested, but still the same result. Please pay close attention to the files. Anyway, uploaded 2 more files where it's obvious. The first one is unprocessed directly from the camera and the other one is with the suggested settings. See screendump below. Did I make any mistakes regarding the settings?

Yes, I can view the unprocessed files from the camera with ZOOM BROWSER which is on the supplied CD togheter with the camera (ZB version 6.6.0.23). I cannot view the processed files in ZB.

The two files can be downloaded here:
1 (unprocessed) - http://boggen2.mine.nu/oti/otipix/unprocessed_truck.mov
2 (processed) - http://boggen2.mine.nu/oti/otipix/processed_truck.mov

Hi

Thanks for the samples.

Your processed video is very large at 64 Mb compared to the original at 8 mbThe data rate being 144.79mbps against 18.2mbps for the original.
I don’t understand why its so high. Did you change any other settings?????

I have been able to render the original file to Mov types using the correct frame rate 23.98. to Photo Jpeg and Mpeg4visual, both seem to play as original.
File sizes are 7.5 Mb with a data rate of 16.75 (from quicktime player movie inspector)

Any video I created using 25 fps caused the stutter

I can only ask that you use make movie manager again to create a new template.
Select Photo/foto jpeg or mpeg4 visual
Change the frame size to 1280 x 720 and rate to 23.98
I’m sure there will be other compression options that will produce clean video.

If you wish I can e-mail the good samples.

Smart Proxy
If viewing video in Video Studio you should make sure that these files have been created.
Proxy files are created automatically when inserting video to the timeline, they are not created when adding to the library.

Hi

I don't agree and I have now given up and requested a refund from Corel. I previously used Videostudio for years together with my older Canon cameras without any problems, but of course those cameras used the more common and old VGA 640x480px/30fps combination which Videostudio could handle.

I bought the Adobe Premiere Elements 9 and it works super. I can export to any common format (and other formats too) without any problem with that software. Perhaps Videostudio will provide more and better support for different formats in the future. I guess other Canon users with the 1280x720 px/23.976 fps and quicktime H.264 will end up with the same problems as I.

Anyway, thanks for trying.
