PSPPX3 Incentive Download

Post by Harley Guy »

Just registered my new install and was offered PSPPX3_Incentive.exe. No indication what it is and I'm not in the habit of installing unknown programs on my computer. I'm sure it's safe but I don't know if I want it or not. Can anyone tell me what it is or does?

The incentive download is the KPT Collection (if I remember correctly). I haven't found it all that useful, but I'm more of a photographer than a graphicist. You get:
KPT® Equalizer™—sharpen, smooth, and blur photos precisely
KPT® Goo™—smear, smudge, and swirl the pixels in your photos to create abstract effects
KPT® LensFlare™—add lighting effects, such as reflections, halos, and glow
KPT® Projector™—apply 2-D and 3-D interactive perspective warp effects

It's hard to describe these things. The Equalizer is the only one I ever use, and I have tried them all. It's like Unsharp mask only you can set a strength for 1 pixel radius, another strenth for 2 pixel radius, another strength for 3 pixel radius, etc... yet you have not Clipping and you can't specify Luminance Only. If you could do those things it would be Unsharp Mask on steroids. You can use to to smooth too but I really dislike that effect.

Goo is alot like the smudge and distortion tools we already have.

Lensflare, eh. It's not that realistic looking IMO. Then again I try to avoid lens flare when I can.

Projector, imagine your image is an actual photograph and you can record a video of it flipping over, rotating, spinning, stretching, etc... Kind of like transitions to some of your cheaper cable shows with more interns than lights on the set.

Thanks df. KPT doesn't sound like anything I would use so it will remain in my download folder.

The incentives include picture tubes, frames, textures and patterns. I don't remember which ones. Just like they always have, that's nothing new.

The KPT incentives, as well as the time-saving scripts, will show up later for you to download. When they are available the words "Do More..." will be available in your Effects menu underneath Plugins. When this is highlighted it means Corel has something for you to consider in order to allow you to "do more".
