Clip/Graphic/Audio Organizer suggestions

Post by shanezep »

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or knows of any software that would make storing and finding video clips, graphic element, photos, and audio elements easier to organize and find. A friend and I film and edit a "tv" show whereby we use several graphic elements (openings/closings/bugs/audio) in several parts of the show and in related show videos. We are finding it harder and harder to stay organized. There are parts that we each work on separately, but when we share the VSP files, it's hard to remember to copy every graphic and audio file we edited with so the other person can finish the edit (we each edit in our own homes).

Does anyone know of an easier way to gather all the files in a package or how to organize them in files to cut down on our search and relinking time?

The only ideas coming to mind are the Smart Package and Import/Export Library. Smart Package is project based, will copy all files used in your project, including the VSP, and place them in one folder. Under the Library Manager, you can export all the Libraries, then in turn import them. This is more of a back-up function. I think both of you would need to maintain the same file structures, storing your clips in folders of the same names, and the paths to those files should be the same.

Also if I had a working environment like yours, I would certainly be using a service called Go To Meeting.com.
