A few weeks ago I purchased MovieFactory 7 Pro so I could burn blu ray discs for files I downloaded from my Hauppauge 1212 and files from my Cannon HD camcorder. The files from my Hauppauge 1212 cause MovieFactory 7 to crash. The files from my Cannon HD camcorder will create a blu ray disc, but the audio is way out of sync with the video. Here are some of the incident exchanges with support:
Sent to support:
I get a message from Windows 7 "Corel DVD MovieFactory has stopped working". The Windows error log shows H264VDec.dll caused an exception code: 0xc0000005. This only happens when I use any .ts file that was downloaded from my Hauppauge 1212 and try to make a blu ray video. I have no problem creating blu ray videos from my Cannon HD camcorder. Attached is a wordpad and a word copy of the windows 7 log file. service paks 1 and 2 are installed.

Having reviewed the details of your support request, I am writing to advise you to visit the following link and update your copy of Corel DVD MovieFactory Pro 7 as we have available at least 2 service packs that could potentially resolve this issue:

Your response to this incident ask me to apply service packs to Moviefactory Pro 7. I stated in my original support request that I already have both service packs 1 and 2 installed.
Received from support:
I suggest to completely remove then reinstall your program to resolve this issue. This is to make sure that there are no corrupt files in your program files. Please see the following Knowledge Base article for instructions on completely removing DVD MovieFactory 7.

I did as suggested in incident 101104-000025 and removed Corel DVD MovieFactory Pro 7 from my computer. I then installed MovieFactory Pro 7, the Content Pack, The Extra Pack and the Bonus Pack. At that point I could successfully build a blu ray disk using a .ts file that was created using my Hauppauge 1212.
I then applied Service Pack 1 and the problem now exists. I applied Service Pack 2 and the problem still exists. The module that is failing (H264VDec.dll) did not even exist until Service Pack 1 was applied.
Now what?
Received from support:
To troubleshoot this issue, please uninstall the currently installed Quicktime player in your system then reinstall using the file that you can download from the following link:
QuickTime Player version 7.5:
Sent to support:
I re-installed Quicktime as you requested. It had no effect on the hang up problem on MovieFactory 7 pro. I purchased this product so I could create blu ray disks from files created by my Hauppauge 1212 and files created from my Cannon HD camcorder. The files created by my Hauppauge 1212 cause MovieFactory to crash. The blu ray disk I create using files from my Cannon HD camcorder have major audio sync problems that do not exist in the original file.
I am now requesting a full refund because your product is not ready for use on Windows 7 64bit at this time.

Absolutely no point at all in requesting a refund in these forums - we are all users here trying to help each other solve our problems.
If you elaborate on your problems by starting a new topic explaining all then maybe somebody will be able to help you - but if you want a refund then you need to contact Corel Customer Services if you purchased direct from Corel - or the store you bought from if not Corel.

Re: Unhappy with MovieFactory 7 Pro
Actually, Brian, I read his whole post, including the request for a refund, as being merely a repeat of messages he already sent to Support... And moreover, I believe he has already given a lot of information as to what the problem is.
To me the problem is that he is trying to use .ts files, and as far as I am aware, those transport stream versions of what I think are mpeg-2 are not readily readable by either VS X3 or MF 7... I have a different TV card (a DVico Fusion) but it also produces .ts files, and I always have to convert them to program stream mpegs using either the software that came with the TV card or else a freeware program called, IIRC, HDVtompeg2... See http://www.videohelp.com/tools/HDTVtoMPEG2.
What does confuse me, however, about the original post is that the OP identifies the h.264 codec (which is of course mpeg-4/AVCHD) as being the culprit, yet as far as I am aware, .ts is mpeg-2. Or maybe I'm wrong. But I am wondering if the OP's Canon is an AVCHD one, and whether he is making a Blu-Ray disc using AVCHD specifications, rather than the more standard mpeg-2 ones... (acknowledging, of course, that AVCHD is also a Blu-Ray-capable format...)

My understanding of .ts files is that they are a holder for many different types of video data. The Hauppauge 1212 puts out an h.264 stream and will create .ts or .m2ts files. Both files will cause MovieFactory 7 pro to crash. My Cannon HD camcorder outputs many .mts files. I use VideoRedo to join the files into one .ts file.
Normally I create an AVCHD disc, but I also create blu ray discs. I have used the following programs with .ts files from both the Hauppauge 1212 and my Cannon HD camcorder to create blu ray discs:
TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4
Nero Vision 10 HD
multiAVCHD
They all will create a usable blu ray disc with no audio problems. I like the speed and menu capabilities of MovieFactory 7 more than the other products I mentioned but don't like the audio sync problems it creates and it won't work with my Hauppauge 1212.

My Sony HVR-A1E is a HDV 1080i camcorder and the output is the .m2t format which in my opinion is a transport stream file (mpeg2) as well. I don’t know whether there is another essential difference with the formats you suspect DMF 7 to crash. Anyhow I burned a .m2t clip on a Blu Ray BD-RE disc with DMF 7 Pro today without any problem. It works great!!

I am able to burn a blu ray disk using files from my Cannon HD camcorder, however the audio is out of sync. The audio is in sync at the start of the blu ray video output, but the further I get in to the playback, the audio gets further and further out of sync with the video.
