Need help (easy question)

Post by Knockoutartist »

Hello everyone,

Can someone help? I have a new Sony DVD camcorder. I plugged it into the USB port and for some reason, my computer kept saying no capture device found. I ended up putting the DVD into my computer and imported into my computer instead using Video Stuido 9. I want to emial it to a friend, but it is in a VSP format. Can anyone help me compress this into a MPEg format? I went to "Share" and it does not giv me the create video file option. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!

The reason your computer reports "no capture device" is because there is no capture device. You cam records direct to DVD, from there you transfer the video files recorded to your computer. It is just the same as any file transfer and is not a "capture."
A VSP file is a Video Studio Project files and actually contains no video. It is just a series of markers pointing to source videos and what the program should do with them, cut, trim, add transition etc.
When you imported the video it would have loaded them as MPEG2 files already so you don't have to recompress or anything else with them. Just drag them into the time line, edit as you wish, go to share and create a final file.
