Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
Guys this might have nothing to do with the program , but ofcourse I have explained the trouble I was having with Prox3, which now I'm working around, but now that's solved, in the process of trying to figure out why ProX3 was causing my computer to run slow, I must have changed something that controlls the volume, What I mean is within ProX3 theres a volume control just under the ...dispaly screen? Well I can't use it, click on it and nothing happens. Anyone have the knowledge of what I did?In order to controll the the volume I now have to go outside of the program and turn the volume up or down. I hope I've explained myself so you guys can understand. Thanks

Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
The volume control under the display screen is the System Volume, which is just for adjusting the volume while viewing/displaying. To make adjustments to the volume on your clips, you need to use:
1. The volume control found on the Video tab to the right of the display screen.
2. Open the Sound Mixer (musical note & sound wave icon above the timeline) then adjust the volume for the track that your clip is on.
3. Use Rubber-Band editing to make various adjustments throughout your clip.
When you change the volume it may not be present in Clip mode, so will need to view the changes in Project mode.

Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
It might be another glitch with Win7. When you click on it, do you get the volume control slider? You then move it up or down to change the volume.

Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking at your PC specs, the slowness you're experiencing is very puzzling. I can run VS X3 on the machine listed in my Profile, and so long as I don't try to edit HD video, it runs fine. However it is a dedicated machine, no bloatware installed. It's amazing just how much all those "security" apps slow a system down. I use my laptop for any internet activity, and of course it has the bloatware on it. My old XP machine will boot-up and shut-down many times faster than my Vista laptop, which is dual-core.
There's something on your system that is causing the bottleneck. It could be a RAM problem, if you have a failing memory card, and VS uses that particular address of that card, it certainly would cause problems when launching and running it. Have you ever purchased a new memory card because you wanted to upgrade or had problems with the old, and it seemed like nothing improved? I have, and found out the brand new memory card was bad. To find it you need to run a memory checking app that will test numerous times, not just a quick once-through. It took about 3 or 4 times for the faulty card was determined.

Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey thanks for the info, i DO NOT use this computer on the internet, strictly editng. I don't feel that i have lost control of system volume within the program is due to the program, its something to do with what I did, to try and fix the ,''SLOW RUNNING'' problem in the beginning.
but now that you mentioned the memory issue. Is there a program that i can use to check my memory just incase? because i have purchased new memory since I got this computer.
Thanks for your help.

Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi friends once again I have the same problem, which is I can't use the smart sound quick tracks without LONG delays in my computer,I now am using Pro X5,and my way around this problem the last time was not to use a Smart sound track till after all the editing is done in my project, well this "quick fix " won't work this time because I need to hear the smart sound music, because for every beat of the music I add a different video clip. Is there a answer to this probelm, thanks.

I use SmartSound quite a bit, and it definitely slows things down. Saving a file takes noticeably longer with SmartSound tracks. Still, it's a pleasure to have music that can be of any length.newfielander wrote:Hi friends once again I have the same problem, which is I can't use the smart sound quick tracks without LONG delays in my computer,I now am using Pro X5,and my way around this problem the last time was not to use a Smart sound track till after all the editing is done in my project, well this "quick fix " won't work this time because I need to hear the smart sound music, because for every beat of the music I add a different video clip. As for your problem, if your computer information is accurate, you have an older computer with only 4GB of RAM. SmartSound makes my relatively new i7 computer slow down, so I'm sure it will make an even older computer even more sluggish.
One suggestion: Do you create Smart Proxy files for all your video clips? Editing with proxy files makes the experience MUCH faster and more pleasant. It takes some time for the proxy files to be generated, but I just tell the computer to go to work and I go do something else. When the proxies are ready, editing is a breeze.
Hope that helps!

Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi pvreditor, your responds was much appricated, and I guess I'm gonna have to invest into a new computer, also to make things worst I'm using HD footage, which leads me to my next question concerning, Smart Proxy files. You asked me do I make smart proxy files of all my video clips,.............well all I do which I though was all that was required was go into my perferances, click performance and check the little box which says, "Enable Smart Proxy", and also check the box Auto generate proxy template..........so from there on is there something I'm not doing to actually create the proxy files?
Thanks ............................................................
Hi Pvreditor, I have figured out how to "create" the files, I'm actually embarrassed to even tell you ,lol ,thanks again,I will let you know how it turns out.

Re: VideoStudio pro X3 very slow!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, editing HD files is much slower than editing SD files, which is why editing software companies let you generate low-reolution proxy files for editing.
There are probably a couple of different ways to tell VideoStudio to generate Smart Proxy files, but here's what I do:
1. I import a bunch of video files into the library.
2. Once all the files are imported, they are all simultaneously highlighted. I do a right mouse click and select "Create Smart Proxy file..."
3. The "Create Smart Proxy File" window pops up with all the videos checked.
4. I click on "Okay" to generate all the proxy files.
It takes time to generate all the proxy files, so I usually leave the computer alone for a while. However, you can start editing right away if you want to... you will get the benefit of the proxy files as soon as your computer has generated them. This may mean that a long clip may be smooth to work with at the beginning, but it may bog down when you get to the point where the proxy has yet to be generated.
If you want to see the status of Smart Proxy generation, click the "Settings" drop-down, lower the cursor to "Smart Proxy Manager" and select "Smart Proxy Queue Manager..." That will show you which file is being converted to a proxy file. "Smart Proxy File Manager..." shows you which files have already been converted to proxy files.
Periodically, I go into Smart Proxy File Manager and clear out all the proxies for videos that I've completed. I assume they take up space, so I don't want to fill my hard drive with a bunch of proxy files I no longer need.
Good luck!

So even though I use the ,''Smart Proxy files" my final project will still be saved in the original quality ?

Yes, the proxy files just make editing smoother and faster. They do not affect the quality of the final project.newfielander wrote:So even though I use the ,''Smart Proxy files" my final project will still be saved in the original quality ?
