Error message on DVD burning

Post by kmah123 »

I have downloaded the demo version of videostudio 9. Whenever I try to burn a DVD, after the initial few steps in burning(converting video title etc.) I get a message "vstudeo has caused an error in NVDISP.DRV and will now close". Everything freezes after that and I have to manually shut down PC after that. I am running windows ME. Anybody has any solution?

AS far as I know demo/trial versions do not allow DVD Burning - Same happened to me with VS 6.

For me it has to be the real thing or nothing at all.

However, another possible cause to your problem can be Win ME.

It sounds like you have a video card driver problem, you should go the the Nvidia site and get the latest drivers for your video card.

Use another Product!!

VS is causing an Error in the Nvidia display Driver. If this is the only program that is causing the problem then uninstall it and get another product. I tell you out of serious concern.

Trust me on this one; if you update with a newer Nvidia Driver over the older Microsoft Driver, and have older VIA drivers, you will never get it straightened out again without reinstalling everything. All of the Versions of the Driver updates I mention and the order in which they are installed in ME are critical to Operating Stability.

It is imperative you know the following, before you try to update your Video Drivers:

Do you have a PCI or AGP based Video Card?
What is the Model of the Card, and Driver Versions?
Are the Video Drivers you are using Nvidia or Microsoft?
What type Motherboard and what Version of Drivers, what type VIA or other?

Do you have all of the updates for ME installed? i.e.
Internet Explorer 5.6 or 6 installed, Direct X 9.0c, latest Microsoft Nvidia Driver installed?

VIA will caution you NOT to update your VIA drivers, older than Version 4.43, while running ME to maintain System stability.

The newest Nvidia Video Drivers DO NOT work well with ME after Version 5.2. Microsoft stopped at this Driver Version, but Nvidia has not.

VS typically looks for Direct X 9 and Explorer 5.5 installed for display stability.

If you are determined to keep VS installed and get the Video Drivers, then check which Driver Versions you have, do this:

Go to the control Panel, System, in the System Properties Dialog Box, expand Display Adapter, click on the Video Card Type, in the Video Card Type Display Box, select tab named Drivers, the driver provider and dates should be displayed, select the Button named Driver File Details and get the Driver Version number.

Armed with this information you will be better able to determine whether you want to take the chance of updating your video Driver. Good Luck!
