Full Editor always opens picture automatically
Hi to all
Could you do me a favour?
A customer has asked to remove following behaviour:
PSPPX3, 13.2.0.35: After switching to the Full Editor, PSPPX3 always opens picture(s) which were ticked in the Organizer.
1. Open PSPPX3
2. Go into the Organizer, choose Preview or Thumbnail view (it's your choice)
3. Mark one or more of the pictures that they have this grey frame
4. Click on "Full Editor"
Result: Generally, PSPPX3 opens all marked pictures in the Full Editor only by the fact that they were ticked, even you haven't ask to open them.
If you answer to these questions, that would help me a lot, because I need your opinion. It doesn't make sense to change a program for 1 particular customer and after, 20 others complain:
I like it and want that Corel continue this:
I don't like it and want to stop it:
Many thanks in advance.
Simone

Re: Survey: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
I guess I like it.
I hate surveys, their answers are never decisive enough. I like the behavior because it makes sense, if you have an image selected it makes sense to assume you want to keep working on that image.
Also, since it's possible to deselect the currently selected image you don't have to open the image in the full editor if you don't want to. It's a bit slow to deselect but that's not important. If we couldn't deselect then it'd be terrible but I think it works well.

Re: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
Hi Simone Corel UK,
Ok this is a post as a user, I personally like this new behavior of PSP, and like what LeviFiction said, it makes sense that when you mark or select the image on organizer view then clicking the FULL EDITOR that means you want those images to be open on FULL EDITOR unless of course it's just by accidents.
So my answer is "I like it and want that Corel continue this" but if there is an option to enable and disable this behavior then I think it's a win-win for people to like and not like this new behavior.

I like the option. Don't like the Organizer. But if I select pictures and open full editor, I would want the pictures opened for edit.

I like it because that's what I thought it should do and agree with the other comments above me.

Re: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
Hi,
I am the guy who asked Simone Corel UK to change that. So you can imagine that I do not like the behavior. She gave me a note that she asked in the forum and all people answered that the current behavior should continue. Well, "all" are four people...
Always I just have a look to one or more pictures I have to unselect the picture before switching back to the editor. But ok, I can live with that.
Currently I do not like PSP X3 because I never had such a lot of crashes and other problems with vector objects with older versions. I work with PSP since version 7 and version X3 is a disaster (at least in my opinion). So it would be better to use the available time to correct more important problems than the "problem" with the organizer.
Have a nice day,
Pixel_Pusher

Thanks for writing your comment. Sorry, there weren't more comments made by others. It's real live, at the end only few change the world

The few change nothing they keep it as it is. But as I told you above there are bigger problems with X3...

Yes, I like this behavior of the Organizer. I think It's right and logical to open all selected images when clicking Full Editor button.

Re: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
I didn't originally answer because I don't use the organizer. If I did, it seems like it would make sense to me for the editor to open all checked pics.... if I used the organizer I could see some uses for that.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

Re: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
Just make an option in the preferences whether or not to open checked images in the organizer. Keeps everyone happy

Re: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
Like pdxrjt, I don't use the organizer, however why would someone more than one photo and then expect them not to open in the full editor? To me anyway that is no different than using a windows explorer window, selecting several photos, and you would of course want those you selected to open in the editor. I think it works great for finding and selecting a couple of photos that you want to use for a special creation.

Re: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
Yes it makes sence to be able to open pictures I selected in the organizer. But If I just wanted to have a look to the tags or some other pictures I do not want to open them always. Simone UK didn't tell that there are three more possibilities to open a picture out of the organizer: double click, mouse right - Open, Menu: 'Files - Open'.
My idea was that just selecting a picture and then changing back to the editor is not enough reason to open it. But ok, that was just an idea and I can live with the current situation.

Re: Full Editor always opens picture automatically
Both sides make sense, in the end it's personal preference and let's face it no one is going to be completely happy when it comes down to personal preference.
Considering that it's just a single click in the grey area between pictures that you need to deselect all of them it's either an extra click to deselect or to open all of them. So in other-words by comparison to all of the other complaints on the forums about how Paint Shop Pro functions (other than the actual bugs) I'm wondering why this one got the survey?
