Extract audio segment from video file to Library

Post by jdwgt62 »

The Pro X3 help file says I can extract audio from a video file, but doesn't say how. What I would like to do is extract a segment of audio music from an MPEG2 video file using PRO X3 and add it to the Library for use in another PRO X3 project. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I've got an older version of Video Studio, so it might be different...

With the MPEG-2 in the timeline, go to Share and select Create Sound File.

Just to add - if you only want a segment then select the segment you want in the timeline first by dragging the trim handles on the bar under the preview screen to the start and end of the piece you want - then when you go 'Share >> Create audio file' make sure you check 'selected' in the options box.

Hi

And just to add further, you need to be in Project Playback mode.
This sets the project Preview Range.
When you Share Create Sound File select Options then Preview Range
This will create a wav saved to the working folder, a thumbnail being placed in the library.
Use the Compression tab if you wish to change the default type

The trim handles mentioned are somewhat multi-functional, being used for different applications, trimmimg, titles, animation durations etc.

Hello jdwgt62,

I'm Abiel from Corel Support. If you are looking for the steps on how to extract audio and add it on your library, you can access this link for other steps on how to Working with Audio.

Hope that helps.
