"Smart download" is stupid!

Hello all
Just purchased Videostudio9 via download and it works fine but the smart download does not work. I get an error "cannot get URL from push file".
I tried tech support but the website wants me to register my software first.
So I try to register and it asks for a serial# which I was not given. I tried my purchase ref# but that did not work.

Anyone know how to get a serial# for a downloaded copy or how to get smart download to work.

I got my SN in the email from Element 5.

Yours should be there, too.

Nope, no serial only a Purchase reference#. I purchased through Softwrap.

When you install VS the serial number appears in the
beginning of the installation. It's greyed out in one of the boxes.
Write it down.
It's also in the registry but it's easier to start another install.

I reinstalled VS and watched very carefully and there was no serial# listed anywhere. Thanks anyway.

Still can't run smart download. I heard of people using their FTP server, anyone know the ftp address? I tried ftp.ulead.com but it wants a password.

Call the Tech Support line. I had the same issue and they set me up with a link to download all the content for VS9.

I successfully installed VS9 on my laptop and was able to download all the extra content. I then copied the content to my desktop pc and when I clicked the executable I got an error that said "You need the full version of VS9 to install this upgrade" or something like that.

Your Softwrap version is still a trial version, but the internal timer is unlocked. Just call Ulead and get them to give you a download link that will be the full version, not an activated trial. That could be the whole reason that the Smart Download files are not working.
