It has been a while since I have done any video editing and was looking at the new Video Studio X3. And since all you veteran users have had some good hands on I was wondering how it compares with Video Studio 11 plus from about a 3 years ago vintage. Especially in the recording disc process as I have been trying some high definition with my Canon D5 and then creating a HD video but it seems to take an enormous amount of time to burn to disc in Video Studio 11. And does the motion menu template built in PhotoImpact X3 work in Video studio X3. And lastly what are a couple of the best changes that have come to Video Studio X3 from older versions.
Thank you

This depends on your computer. If you're editing HD video, then you should be using at least a decent Dual Core. For AVCHD you better have a Quad-core. Go to theEspecially in the recording disc process as I have been trying some high definition with my Canon D5 and then creating a HD video but it seems to take an enormous amount of time to burn to disc in Video Studio 11
User Control Panel, then in your Profile complete the information about your system. That would help us answer some questions without asking questions first..
Now things have changed with the "burn module" Big Time. There is no Burn Module with VS X3. They replaced that with DVD Factory 2010, which is not even close to the burn module you're used to. Since the consensus about it was that it is worthless, they replaced it with DVD MovieFactory 7SE, a trimmed down version of DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro. It of course functions like the burn module in VS 11. However there is one caveat, you can not use a project file (VSP) in either authoring application. No jumping straight into authoring a DVD without first rendering a video file in VS. Then when you open either program (Share>Create Disc), they launch and are completely stand-alone. You can actually close VS while they are opening or shortly thereafter. Nothing in the timelines of VS are carried over into them.
Both authoring programs have Smart Menus (motion menus). I think that some of them in DVD MovieFactory 7SE, are the same as those in VS 11.
Best changes??? That's an objective question, which differs with each user...
- Transitions used in overlay tracks.
- Copy clips and paste directly in the timelines
- New Blue FX, Video Essentials II's Picture-in-Picture filter. This is a powerful filter, that has keyframeable motion.
- Paint Creator, paint on video clips
- Output (only), FLV files.
- Supports the most current high-def file formats, such as AVCHD

Thank you Ron for your notes on Pro X3. I purchased the new version and it works a lot smoother than my VS11plus. I just need to work around a few .mov video file crash problems that I also had with VS11. I may be short on memory. Only 2 gigs but 8gigs on the way for my quad core.
Thanks again

Hi
Video Studio has had an issue using Quicktime, the fix, at least for some users is to revert to an earlier version.
Please read the info from Corel
Your camera produces Mov using H264 avc compression, Video Studio as far as I know does not support this combination. You can load and edit the video, but cannot re-code/render to Mov H264.
No problems as you can render to a more suitable format, DVD Mpeg2 to burn a standard DVD.
Hope this Helps
