Palettes not visible

Post by erisajd »

I have tried everything that I know to do but cannot get the materials palette (and some others) to show in X3. I need to have the materials palette show so that, among other matters, I can change the color of text I add to the image. I did not have this issue with X2 and this issue is forcing me to go back to that older version.

What all did you try? Everything you know doesn't tell us much.

And with what little we have I can only tell you to try the three main ways of getting the palettes to show up.

1) Hit the F6 key

2) Or on the main toolbar there is a dropdown button labeled Palettes where you can select Materials palette from there.

3) Or you can go to your View menu and under Palettes select Materials palette from there.

Otherwise reload the default workspace. See if that does anything.

You can also reset Paint Shop Pro itself: Shift+Click on the Paint Shop Pro icon it'll ask if you want to reset Paint Shop Pro, say yes. And see if that does anything.

I've also found that occasionally my work space expands mysteriously. If you grab the right hand margin of your work space and drag it to the left, your palettes might show up. What LeviFiction said about loading the default workspace should work also.

Shift click on the icon did it. None of the other suggestions (which I had aleady tried) had worked. Thanks so very much..

I am having the same problem (palettes not showing up in X3).

Things I've tried:
*I cannot reload the default workspace, as when I right click and go to workspace, there is no default listed.
*I tried shift-clicking on the PSP icon, and that didn't work.
*When I go to view->palettes, the ones I want to see are checked, but they're not on my screen, nor can I find them docked somewhere unusual.
*The word "palettes" is listed under the menu bar at the top, and has a dropdown that shows the same as the view menu (that they are displayed).

Any other thoughts on what to try would be very much appreciated, as I have a deadline, and need my layers palette back to get the file done for submission. Thanks!

Is your learning center open? If it is try closing that. Probably won't do anything but if nothing else works, try the bizarre.

The learning center wasn't open. Tried opening it, then closing it again. No change. :(

Can you use the other palettes that you don't normally use? Or do all palettes refuse to show up?

Possible options that will lead you nowhere:

1) Try deselecting and selecting the palettes again to see if that coaxes them out of hiding

or

2)Try showing all of the toolbars and palettes to see if that helps.

Hit Ctrl + Shift + T - This key combination forces all palettes and toolbars to pop-up.

or

3) Check the docking options.

Go to File->Preferences->General Program Preferences

Under the palettes option check the docking options. Also check the options for when to reveal the palettes. Try not allowing the other palettes to dock. Make sure that the "automatically show palettes" option is set to Always or With Learning Center (default).

It should be noted that "With Learning Center" only the palettes that are related to the current context of the Learning Center will show up.

There are two other options, mind you, but they involve either deleting Application Data Folders and Registry settings or re-installing Paint Shop Pro. So I'd like to avoid advising on those if possible.

Otherwise I suggest you contact Corel directly.

Not sure if this has been answered, as the post is old, but I recently had the same problem - palettes, learning center, and media tray, all suddenly gone! After attempting several other things I realized that the sliders has been "closed" so that these items were not showing - just pull the line at the left to the right, and the learning center reappeared, the opposite for palettes, etc.

I forgot to say, in addition to checking "Reset workspace to default configuration", I checked this "Make all toolbars/palettes visible and on screen".
